SBM NMIMS Mumbai review by a current student

I have applied for 3 exams namely CAT, XAT and NMAT and the colleges that I had applied for were all of the IIMs, XLRI, and NMIMS Mumbai. I did not choose the second and third generations IIMs as they are relatively new institutions and are still developing. I was not selected for XLRI. There is no minimum age for the program, but there is a minimum requirement of having a bachelor's degree. The cut off for NMIMS, Mumbai in NMAT exam was 235 with a sectional cut off of 75. The admission process consisted of a WAT(written ability test) and PI(Personal Interview) rounds.

I have chosen the MBA core course over the other specific specialization like HR or others as I was interested in the managerial aspect of a job but had not yet decided on which specialisation among finance, operations, marketing or general management or others; So keeping my options open with an MBA core specialisation would be beneficial for me to take a year to explore the subjects and choose an apt specialisation that would me. NMIMS Mumbai has some of the best faculty in the nation and they come from diverse backgrounds with loads of experience and are highly qualified. We also have visiting faculties and guess sessions and classes are conudcted with a case methodology in mind. The quizzes and assignments are spread throughout the trimesters and then the final trimester exams are held at the end of every trimster. To do well academically it is important to be well read on a regular basis and be actively working on getting the practical exposure to deepen the understanding.

There are a lot of different companies from a diverse set of fields that offer roles suiting the aspirations of candidates from all the different specializations from finance, marketing, operations, and so on.

The fees charges at SBM, NMIMS Mumbai are 10,95,000 per year which includes all the academic expenses. The hostel is optional and the details very based on the amenities and gender. The life of NMIMS is quite happening with a lot of events and club activies to keep us occupied when we are not studying or working on one of the assignemnts. Euphoria is the annual cultural fest that occurs in the first week of march. There are thousands of books and jounrals in the library acssessible in offline and online versions. There are a plethora of clubs and committes run by the students in the fields of finance, marketing, IT, dance, cultural festivals, social welfare and so on.

The admission process consisted of a round of WAT (WAT) followed by a round of Personal Interviews (PI). The topics for WAT can be from a variety of topics from future of electric vehicles in India' to 'Impact of Covid-19 pandemic across the globe. The PI can be consisting of questions from any topic under the sun. My PI consisted of questions related to my work experience, learning and impact I had during the work experience, geopolitics and policies related to the scandanavian countries and governance of China, the people I look up to, my hobbies, and a host of other topics. For the preparation of WAT, it would be helpful to read articles of high quality such as editorials of NY Times and write about certain topcis. Regarding PI, it helps to learn about the technical aspects of your education and work experience, personal life experiences and current affairs across the globe.
