I got IIT Patna based on my Rank and Counselling Choice Preference List. IIT Patna Mechanical Past Placement Reports were decent for me to get convince to accept the offer. Also, The Kind of Exposure at IITs is worth trying to accept the offer from whichever IIT I would have received.

Great Faculty Student Ration being a New IIT. It is around 1:10. All the Faculties are PhD and Post Doc and have signifcant number of Research Papers under their belt. Course Curriculum is light and Exams can be passed if you give decent attention in and after the class. All Exams are timely conducted and there are two semester of 3-4 months each every year and Summer Break of 3-4 Months. Students Prefer to do Projects during these Summer Interships.

I interned at Steel Authority of India Limited. College Faculty helped to arrange for Internship. It was in core mechanical Foundry Shop and I got the opportunity to apply the core thermal and HMT Concepts from Mechanical in the Electric Furnace of SAIL Bhiali to solve for failure of roof of the Electric Arc Furnace.

Internship and Placement Activity is supported by a dedicated Placement Officer working in Training and Placement Cell which is suported by Student Representatives. For CSE Branch, The Placements are Great (North of 15-20 lpa Average) while for Other Branches the Placements in B.Tech Batch is Just Decent (Avg of 8-10 lpa CTC).

All Students with weak financial background can easily get Merit Cum Means (MCM) Scholarship. Also for Loan Facilities, Most Bank are ready to Offer at the time of Admission itself. Fees was last hiked only after approval of All IITs Senate and was almost doubled. The Good Part is, It was not hiked for Current Students and was applicable only for New Admission.

Infrstructure is possibly among the best or Top 5 among all IITs in the Country. There is Cultural Festival Anwesha and Celesta that is held every year. Anwesha is around January End and Celesta is around October - November every year. The 4 Years at IIT Patna is a dream run for most of the students. There are multiple clubs related to almost each and every field at IIT Patna let it be Entrepreneurship, Placement, Cultural Activities, Drama, Photography, Cinematography etc.

Yes, First Top 1.5 Lakh Candidates (Including Reservation) from the JEE Main are allowed to apply for JEE Advanced. Then from JEE Advanced, Top some 10,000 Candidates get into IIT. Earlier in 2014, The Rule also allowed admission only to Top 20 Percentile Candidates in each board however the decision was withdrawn later.
