Ph.D program at IIT Patna is offered in Engineering, Humanities and Social Science streams. Admission in Ph.D program to all category students needs the qualification of Master degree and joint master degree/graduation or professional course pass with GATE/JAM/JEE Advanced Exam. Students are granted on the basis of PI.

Course Curriculum Overview

IIT Patna gives three years span to its Ph.D course in which two or more departments contribute to innovate and cross boundary research. Faculty members of various departments are exploring research areas with extensive interaction of different traditional discipline.

The placement ratio of IIT Patna is quite good. Companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Samsung, Indian Oil etc visit every year for job offers. Most of the offers come from M.Tech students. The highest CTC of B.Tech department stood upto INR 54.57 lpa for 2020-2021 session.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Rs 10,000 per annum at graduation level and Rs 20,000 per annum at PG level are given as academic excellence scholarship. Besides, central scheme scholarship, state scheme scholarship, institute scholarship etc are provided from the institute. Sri Jagadish Nath Tripathi Memorial Scholarship is given to best first year UG students of civil and environmental engineering.

Remarks:

Ph.D program of IIT Patna gives ample opportunities to research. It is facilitated by the modern clubs, infrastructures of the institute. The research area needs master degree as eligibility criteria. Professional degree holders can also join the course. A valid NET score is important for this Ph.D admission.

For PhD, institute conducts a written test and interview. The written test is a lot like GATE but the question solving requires good mathematics and deep understanding.The interview panel will sure make you very afraid and you will forget 80% of the things that you prepared but the interviewers ask in such a manner that they will extract everything that you knew ever in your life.

Remarks:

Our college is on growing stage it hs 10th rank according to NIRF ranking only difficulty is the convenience. It is far distance from main city. Otherwise it is good choice for study and making their bright carrier.

IIT Patna is very best in India. According to NIRF ranking 2025, IIT Patna is ranked 36th in the overall category, and 39th in the research institutes category. In the India Today rankings 2024, it was ranked 9th in the category of colleges. Admission process was very smooth, firstly you apply / registration in B.Sc (CSDA) course. IIT Patna Through An Honest Insider's Perspective

Basically i gave JEE and according to my JEE Advanced rank of 2023 i was getting EE/ECE in some og the Mother IITs but i didn't want to pursue electrical engineering so took CSE in IITP. Talking about other colleges, i had options for some of the private colleges like TIET CSE, Jaypee Noida CSE. I applied for IIT Dhanbad and I got mining engineering in JOSAA counselling, But I chose chemical engineering in IIT Patna because I didn't have any interest in mining engineering.
