Remarks
I had applied for NITs (couldn't get in due to not meeting the merit criteria i.e JEE rank), VSSUT (CET being in bhubaneshwar was a more viable option). I personally did not avail any quota and secured admission based on merit. CET being a state government institute does have a certain percentage of seats reserved under ST/SC/Women's Quota. The admission criteria for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering was to secure at least 70% in your 12th Boards plus JEE rank within 80,000 (for General Category). The ranking requirement might differ for other categories and quotas. The counseling is conducted by OJEE post you apply for it for all the and colleges in Odisha. There is a document verification process, so you just need to prepare those.
Course Curriculum Overview
I went for Electrical owing to my interest in the field. The faculty-student ratio is 1:50. All the faculties are highly qualified and are experts in their respective subjects. The teaching method is very old school and mostly theory-based. Exposure to practical experience is limited due to poor infrastructure. Along 4 years of course, we have 8 semesters and each semester has one end term exam
Placement Experience
7th-semester students are eligible to sit for campus placements. Placement activities start from July and continue till March next year. A lot of companies visit the college for recruitment. Some notable ones being Deloitte, Maruti Suzuki, Accenture, Now Floats, Musigma, Robert Bosch. The highest packages are usually off-campus for Microsoft. The package is 40 LPA. The average for college is 5-6 LPA
Fees and Financial Aid
Since this is a Government-owned institution, the fee structure is very stable and fixed. Also, the fees are really low as compared to other institutions. The college provides a stipend of 10000 to the top 10% of students each year. I received the stipend for 3 consecutive years. I got placed in Deloitte USI for 7.6 lpa
Campus Life
The Student Union and Placement Committee are run by students with support from faculty. Along with these, we have various clubs being handled by students like Dance club, Literary Society, NSS, Technical Society, etc.
Hostel Facilities
A hostel facility is provided to students. The Hostels are mostly clean except for certain occasions. Each room accommodates 3 students. Like every other hostel, there are always issues around water and hygiene. The menu is decided by the Hostel Student Representatives. The meals are okay and edible.
