SASTRA -- Life lessons.

I had only applied for SASTRA as i had a decent JEE score. There were two streams based on which the admissions happened: stream 1 is based purely on the board scores and stream 2 is part board scores and part JEE score. A call letter for counselling was sent after I got shortlisted, the process was short and very transparent.

The course curriculum is very standard and it prepares you for the long run, the faculties are heavily skilled and have an excellent teaching method. The classes are very interactive. There are three CIAs in a semester, if one scores enough internals from the first and second, they can skip the third. Semester exams are held once a semester and are not that hard to pass.

We can apply for external internships from the college and work for the last semester. The stipends offered range from 15k to 3k and a lot of people go for semester abroad programs where they complete their final semester. We are supposed to do one mini project and one major one these both have high credits.

about 50+ companies come to SASTRA for recruitment the prime recruiters are TCS, Infosys, CTS, Microsoft. The highest packages range upto 20 LPA and the lowest being 3 LPA. almost 80% of students get placed some of them opt for off campus placements as well, the college does not restrict us from doing so.

Yes, there is a fee hike policy every year. The college provides semester abroad programs in the final semester and semester toppers get fee concessions. Every year there is a rise of 10% in the fee. Bank loans can be availed at any point of the year.

There are 2 fests in general and many departments fests. 1. Kurukshetra 2. Daksh KS is the no technical fest at SASTRA, and intercollege fest where many colleges participate and perform in events such as dance, music, drama and street play. Daksh is again an intercollege fest with technical events and paper presentations.

The hostel fee, rooms and food is excellent. Everything is Vegetarian, no non veg is allowed inside the campus. The menu is very versatile and changes every week. the locality of the hostel is very peaceful and has a calm environment to study and play. There is a huge lawn, playroom and study room.
