Entrance Preview

I got into this college by giving COMEDK entrance exam. I scored a total of 224 marks and I opted for this college as it is one of the renowned colleges of Indian for dentistry.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As I have mentioned earlier, College of Dental Sciences, Davangere is a renowned dental college in India. It has been Graded B+ by NAAC and stands 4th best Dental college in India according to IDA. The course is of 4 years and an year of internship. College of Dental Sciences, Davangere also has post graduation. After the degree of BDS, there is a course of three years for the masters which is called as the post graduation.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college does provide internship and stipend. I haven't received any yet as I m still in 3rd year.

Placement Experience

4

After doing BDS, one can open their own dental clinic or can join in some hospital. Many people also choose to do the post graduation degree MDS after BDS. BDS is a 4 year course and one year internship is mandatory. MDS is a course of 3 years after the completion of BDS.

College Events

3.5

There is a college fest college VIVIDS which is celebrated every year in association with Indian Dental Association (IDA) . There are sports events, dental conferences, etc which keeps on happening from time to time. The students keep enjoying their college life just because of all these extra activities or events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is little expensive but is feasible. The fee structure is approx. 300000 per year. The fee is worth paying because you get to learn a lot in this college. The faculty is very good. The patient inflow is superb. The college is totally worthy of the fee structure.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Sorry, I have no idea about it. But I have heard that the minority groups are offered with some scholarship schemes.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life in general is good. Students learn how to deal with the patients everyday. The life in this college is quite hectic as it is a dental college. If we talk about the gender ratio, 3:1 would be the girl:boy ratio. There are all sorts of extracurricular activities available.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network and senior students are very good. They are always ready to help you if you seek any help from them, be it a help in academics or in personal life. The campus is completely ragging free. The seniors are very friendly and helpful.

Admission

I honestly wanted to do MBBS course. Many medical colleges also come under COMEDK. I gave an entrance exam called COMEDK in the year 2014 in the city Bengaluru. Then my name was listed for the counselling. I went for the counselling and there were many other colleges too. I wanted to get into some medical college but according to my rank this was not possible. I could only get a dental college as per my rank.

Faculty

4

The faculty is excellent and has a very good experience. The people who teach you are themselves doctors. They have a very good teaching experience. The teaching as well as non teaching staff are very helpful. They are ready to help with all that they can do.

Placement Experience:

For our course and college we have to complete our bonds after internship .So after our internship we have to apply for bond completion in any esic college the place is our choice and based on our academics we get the bond in those hospitals . The avg salary package os aroung 1.5 lakh per month during our bond year ,the students getting the bond is upto 70 percent . After the bond it depends on us if we want to write the neet mds exam for completing our further mds studies and after that u can do fellowship Superfellowship and practice it totally depends on the individual choice . I personally would join dental corps after bond and then write the exam and try for getting admission in afmc college as i want to pursue to become an army dental officer, it is tough .Till internship the student will have got a lot of practice for them to compete for the outside world .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main reason I choose the course was. I did not get a medical seat and was not able to afford it. But once I entered BDS, it was Beautiful. From the very first year, there are pre-clinical, prosthodontics, and dental material. You will be having three internals and one final external. Internals will be conducted by the college itself but externals will be conducted by the University. If you ask me to rate the difficulty, I would say 4/5. You need to work harder for every exam from the internals themselves. Both internal and external will be consisting of practicals. In the final external, 100 marks for the theory exam and 100 marks for practical will be awarded. But pre clinical consists of practical only. No theory will be conducted. They allow you 3 hours to answer two 10 marks, eight 5 marks, and five 2 marks questions. There will be four categories of passing. Distinction, First class, second class and fail. One subject backlog can be carried. But more than one backlog will be 6 months.

Faculties are amazing. There are lectures, professors, and doctors who are highly qualified and experienced in practical and theoretical knowledge. There are at least 15 lecturers and 4 to 5 doctors in each department. The student is 80 to 100 in each academic year. Exams are Highly important there and taken exactly on time. Three sessionals per year and One University at the end, with practical and vivas. Teaching is done through ppt, slide method.
