Remarks
College being under the ambit of Symbiosis is fully committed to the welfare of the students both personally and professionally. I do not have a single negative thing to say about the institute, the faculty and the general infrastructure.
Entrance Preview
SNAP i had a few offers from other colleges like GIM, NITIE (Retail) and SCMHRD. I chose SIIB over GIM and NITIE (Retail) after falling at the PI hurdle at SCMHRD.
Course Curriculum Overview
The focus of the course at SIIB (I speak for SCM from my personal experience) has always been on providing as much industrial exposure as possible. Faculties for us were always selected based on two points in the main extensive Industrial Experience, Good Pedagogical Experience we had some very good professors coming in with experience at Reliance Retail among others.
Internships Opportunities
The company does provide opportunities for internships in companies like Henkel etc. However, it does not provide internships for 100% of the students. Students may need to search on their own in case an internship from within the college does not come to fruition.
Placement Experience
Placements have always been 100% even in times of recession. What may vary is the median salaries companies coming in, to name a few include - Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Asian Paints, Citibank, Infosys, Danfoss, Mercedes Benz, to name a few, Packages are on an average around 8 lpa.
College Events
Management Fest - Ignisense ( It included a majority of the senior batch coming together to get sponsorship's, arrange events and an evening concert by Parikrama), Marketing and Supply Chain Teams organize events calling upon industrial experts to speak on different topics ( Two events per year) Anusmriti ( Alumni Meet) on campus etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As per the current scenario - one of the best returns through placements on the Fees charged during my time, the fee charged was about 4.5 lacs against a median salary of 7.8 with which I was comfortable fee Structure - 50% to be paid per year in advance laptop charges are additional.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loan for education available from outside, not from college's end. Although the college does extend help in getting good deals on laptops.
Campus Life
Campus for 2008-10 batch was a closed cosy environment hostels are college building were literally meters apart which allowed close coordination between profs and students gender ratio seemes 50-50. A lot of celebrations in the football/cricket/lawn tennis/volleyball area between the boy's hostel and college building, lohri/Holi/Diwali/Birthdays concerts during college fests, Karaoke Nights/Dandiya/DJ Nights etc were all celebrated heartily in the campus, coupled with the other wordly Pune climate made it the best.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels were comfortable without being luxurious everyone got a hostel room bar none 3 per room aith attached toilet and bathroom (Generator backup in hostel) Gym, Swimming Pool, Basketball court, Lawn Tennis, TT, badminton, In house printing shops, cafeteria, juice and snack shops. Cleaning by Housekeeping Team on a daily Basis amazing place to stay and experience.
Alumni/Alumna
A very good and closely co-ordinate alumni network dating back to the first batches of the college from the early 90's am a member of the alumni network and I get constant updates on the latest events/ on goings at the campus. Plus the college newsletter shared by the alumni team also helps to stay in touch it also serves as a very strong network for any placement related postings for not only the current batch, but also for the alumni.
Exam Structure
It works on a semester system basis plus there are constant monitoring through 2 intermediate tests per semester then the Professor reserves rights for a few more marks, which can be given based on the Prof's prerogative through surprise tests, presentations, monitoring the student's involvement in the class interactions in general etc the Exam Structure as mentioned above would make the whole semester challenging, but not over-burdening leaving students just enough time for being part of placements related work (Student Bodies), College Newletter Editorial Teams, College Fest Organizing Committees, Sports, Quizzes etc.
Faculty
Some of the best professors, very interested in each of his/her pupil and how they perform. A bit of a small family really, that is how much of an interaction we had with the teachers. For eg. Teacher for AMR like Godbole sir a legendary figure in Pune teaching cirles, Jakate Sir for SCM to name a few.
