Remarks

In 2019, I appeared for CAT and the journey for dream B-school began. Since my CAT percentile was not very high, I realized that I won't get admission in IIMs or IITs. I appeared for all the MBA entrance examinations. My CMAT percentile was 84, and through it I got into WESchool, Mumbai. Initially, I applied for SP Jain, Welingkar, UBS, PIMB, NL Dalmia, and XISS Ranchi. I aws not shortlisted for the SP Jain interview. Other than that, I was shortlised for all the colleges. I cleared the GD/PI in all the colleges. I rejected UBS and PIMB because I received a call for final admission from XISS Ranchi in HR specialization. XISS is listed among the top colleges for students willing to pursue HR. Later, I came to know that the highest package offered by companies coming to XISS is 5-6lpa. Meanwhile, I got a call from Welingkar and I was selected for PGDM in Research and Business Analytics. I finalized Welingkar as the average package offered by companies visiting WeSchool is 8-9lpa.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I did my B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering. Although I chose to do an MBA but was reluctant to shift my domain. Therefore, I selected PGDM in Research and Business Analytics program in WeSchool, Mumbai. Data science and analytics are majorly related to Computer Science. So here am I pursuing a master's in one of the most trendy fields which are not fading away in the near future as 'Data is the new oil'. Owing to the pandemic, all classes were conducted online. The batch strength is 60. The teachers are super supportive in this institution. All the facilities are highly qualified (the majority have completed their PhD). The teachers give theoretical as well as practical exposure to all the subjects through different projects and assignments. We have regular seminars by industry experts where they teach us new tools and technologies. Welingkar schedules trimester-wise (3 end-term exams in one year) exams. Internal exams, presentations, and end-term exams are used for evaluating a trimester.

Internships Opportunities

2

Internship opportunities are good in Welingkar. Companies do visit this college frequently, but the number of students actually hired by these companies is in a 1:10 ratio. This year companies like GEP, Morgan Stanley, Outlook Group, TCS, Infosys, Colgate, Accenture, JD consultants etc companies visited our college. They offered roles like business analyst, junior management trainee, financial analyst, HR intern, operation intern, sales and marketing intern. Live projects also come. Mostly, the live projects are unpaid.

Placement Experience

2

Campus placements are good. This year the average package offered by companies visiting Welingkar was 8-9lpa. The highest package was 19.75 lpa. 96% of students were placed. All the students got their SIP (either paid or non-paid).

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is the same across all the domains. It is 11 lakhs which is to be paid in 4 installments. This sums up to 2,50,000 in every 6 months. The first installment fees also includes extra 4,000 (library charge) and other facilities. Hostel and mess fees to be paid separately. Owing to the pandemic, there was no fees hike this year. Placement record is good. Amidst this crisis, all the students got their SIP (some paid, while some unpaid).

Campus Life

0.5

I am from the Batch 2020 (Corona Batch). There I had zero experience of campus life. All my classes were held online. Welingkar has Placement Committee and Management Committee across all the domains

Hostel Facilities

0.5

Welingkar provides rented apartments as hostels. There are AC and Non-AC rooms (both single sharing and double sharing available). Food facility not available. Owing to the pandemic, all my classes were held online. Therefore, I did not have to avail the hostel facility.

Interview Experience

3.5

You have to apply for Welingkar through your CAT/XAT/CMAT scores. After being shortlisted, you will get a call for the interview. There will be one round of group discussion followed by a personal interview. For GD, Welingkar generally prefers current affairs or trendy business topics. My topic was Union Budget 2020. 10 people were together in a room for the GD. Then I had the personal interview where I was asked questions related to my resume, final year project, roles and responsibilities held in under graduation, past experiences, and general awareness. For any program in Welingkar, one has to score above the 82 percentile in CMAT and atleast 75 percentile in CAT and XAT. To prepare for these rounds, practice verbal communication and increase your general knowledge as much as you can.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio at our caollege can be described as average overall. Most recruiting company belong to the banking and supply chain sectors. Marketing students generally have better placement opportunities, while finance and HR students do get job, though the package are not very high. Buswiness analytics has limited scope as very few companies visit the campus for the roles in that domain.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did choose this course as I am genuinely interested in management and if it is healthcare management that makes me excited. There is a different teaching faculty for each and every subject. The faculties are highly qualified market professionals and experts who teach in an extremely interactive and practical way. They are very supportive. There was one exam conducted per semester which included projects and written exams.

Overall, I would say that I think this is a very unique course being offered by SP Jain and they are very strict with the submission timelines and quality of work. This is definitely is not a run off the mill part time MBA. The institute makes sure you sweat to earn your degree, respectfully!
