Pantnagar veterinary college is a good choice

I got admission to Pantnagar veterinary college through ICAR AIEEA 2020 entrance exam. This exam is conducted every year for admission in various UG & PG courses. The exam was organized by NTA (the same agency that organizes NEET). After B.V.Sc. & Ah, I opt for PG with veterinary science for which I cleared this exam with an overall rank of 148 in the general category. The maximum marks for this exam are 480( there are 120 questions each of 4 marks), and my score was 300. The exam was conducted online mode. After the result, the students have to fill their choices of colleges on-site of ICAR and according to your score in the exam, seats are allotted in different universities. In the first round of counseling, I got a seat in Jabalpur veterinary college but I left that seat as there is a lack of research facilities in that college. Finally, in the mop-up round, I got a seat in veterinary surgery & radiology in Pantnagar veterinary college. Pantnagar university has a good and student-friendly environment.

I chose this course as I am passionate about treating animals and alleviating their pain. This course is for animal lovers, who want to make a career in veterinary science. In Pantnagar, veterinary college total of 7 students enrolled in this course for M.V.Sc. some of them got admission through the state entrance exam and 2 out of 7 got admission through ICAR. There are 4 professors in our department. Teaching is overall good, professors are highly qualified and endowed with good knowledge.

The students are assigned various research topics related to their field, master seminars, and thesis work have to be done in the last semester. Various pharmaceutical companies like ayurvet, virbac, hatvet etc. Offer projects and funds to develop new drugs and techniques for providing pet, domestic and wild animals a better and healthy life.

In the last semester of, course students become eligible for placements. After completion of the degree, we can start our own private practice or we can join well-established pet clinics or animal shelters, or NGOs working for animal welfare. We can also opt for higher education like Ph.D. and can join research organizations or work as an assistant professor in veterinary colleges.

If you take admission through the ICAR entrance exam then you may get a JRF scholarship or NTS scholarship according to your rank in the AIEEA exam. Those who got admission through the state entrance exam may apply for scholarships provided by the state government.

The college infrastructure is really impressive and its library is the centre of attraction. After admission students are assigned to different advisors for guidance and help. Athletic meets are organized and there are facilities for various indoor and outdoor games.

The hostel rooms are good and the food quality is amazing with a balanced diet. Food is provided 4 times a day which is cooked in the mess that is situated on the ground floor of the hostel. I was allotted a double-seated room in Yamunotri girl's hostel. The registration process for a hostel is very simple and quick. You have to request the hostel warden to allot a room and you will get a room within 30 minutes after filling a form and submitting the required documents.
