Gautam Buddha University : Review in 2021

The admission process at GBU is quite simple & easy, entrance exam has questions below average and the plus point is that there is no negative marking so that u can take risks by marking those questions you don't even know. Counseling procedure & fees submission is quite cumbersome as there is no online fees submission portal, all you have to do is stand in a queue for a long, to pay your fees.

B.Tech in Biotechnology is a good course but from a placement point of view, you can opt whether you have to opt M.Tech or MBA, as it is an integrated course. I opted for MBA because it has quite good placement opportunities, as M.Tech in Biotechnology doesn't have good placement opportunities in our college, because biotechnology is still in infancy in India and there are not such research opportunities.

In MBA students can get average placements highest placement gone in 2021 was around 12L/annum and the School of management has a good company to student ratio, in 2020 I saw that there were 2 companies on 1 student which is quite good. 75% of students in the school of management opt for placements, 25% got rejected/opt for higher studies.

Fees stay the same which is allocated to you at counseling, but with the change of new Vice-Chancellor, we have seen 3 fold fee hike for new students. Hostel fees for old students have been revised too (increasing 5000rs which made it 65000/yr). Uttar Pradesh students which are studying in GBU can avail scholarship i.e, 60k per year (only to those students whose family income is below 2L.) Job opportunities in GBU aren't that great though, it's just okay-ish.

Annual fest quality is dropping every year, in 2019 the fest was conducted at mass level, but due to cutting off funds & Vice Chancellor's decision to not take further funds from government and making GBU a self-financed institution made annual fest quality degrade year to year. The library has world-class facilities, classrooms are well equipped & there are sports fests conducted thrice a year (inter hostel sports fest, inter-school fest, inter-university sports fest) Student bodies run by students are still in infancy as students are not interested in any extracurricular activities because it doesn't provide any increment in grades and it doesn't provide any attendance. Student bodies should be backed by universities so that they provide extracurricular grades to students which would eventually increase the flow of students to these student bodies.

I must say the Hostel facility provided by the university is world-class, at 65k/annum it provides good food, quality of food is somewhat okay-ish as compared to other university hostels. The hostel is affordable but registration procedure is quite cumbersome as it requires so many checks (checks by finance office, school office & hostel office)
