Remarks
I only applied to Amity University for Psychology honors as there were very few universities that provide a major degree in Psychology. Admission criteria for my course are that you should be having a percentage of more than 60% in class 10th and 12th. The first step for admission was the entrance test and it was not related to the field. It was a very basic and easy test and things were related to general knowledge. Those who cleared the entrance test went for the second round which was a PI round. They generally ask questions related to the field and the main questions which they ask from every student were why you want to take admission in our university, why this particular field, what are your aspirations, and how this subject will help you in achieving your future goals. It is the final round and you will get to know the results on the very next day.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was always being aspired to become a clinical psychologist but I was also interested to know more about the related fields of psychology in which I can make my career. Here, the curriculum is designed in a way that will give a brief about every subject. In a short span of time, you will have an idea of every subject and you will get clear that which course you want to do your specialization. Almost every teacher has done a Ph.D. from a very good University and is really Knowledgeable. They are ready to help you at any time and if you are willing to learn then you can endure so much from them. Some of the teachers have a really good teaching method that you will enjoy while learning and you just have to listen to them once and have to revise the things that have been taught to you in the class and you are prepared for the exams. In a semester there were two exams, mid-term and final exam. So mid-term is easy to pass compared with the final one but you have to prepare hard for final one.
Internships Opportunities
To be honest, if you are thinking of getting a stipend and experience both at the same time in the Psychology field then sorry to burst your bubble as in our field especially if you're looking for an internship in the field of clinical psychology, then most of the hospital and clinic will demand money from you as they won't get anything. It is a give and takes relationship, you will give your time and energy to them and in return, they will you the knowledge about the test administration and how to take the case history of patients. CRC team will try to find internships that either don't charge the amount from you or the companies that will also give you a stipend. You can find places by your own self or you can tell them, they will talk to the companies on your behalf yours. The CRC team is really very cooperative. If you're needed to get the best internship then you've to remind them from time to time as they have to look for internships and placements for other courses too.
Placement Experience
Placements are good but for a Psychology course, there were fewer placements than other courses as usually in our field, we get placed after doing masters or m.phill but it doesn't mean that there were no placements. Several big companies including TCS, Wipro, Amazon, Infosys, and D.E. Shaw recruit students from all over the university. It's just that, you should be having enough capability to get placed in their company, and the packages they offer to the students are amazing. I remember that D.E. Shaw was offering 20 lakhs CTC per annum for the research assistant's post. But they were having the minimum % criteria for the students that you should be having at least 80 or more than 80% in class 10th and 12th. Due to lockdown, companies weren't able to come for the further process. Usually, students can sit for the placements in their final year, and from the starting of the final year, the process of placement starts.
Fees and Financial Aid
As it is a private university, it is more expensive in terms of cost of study than the government colleges m but AUR is less expensive than compared to other campuses of Amity and private universities. Usually, they increase the fees by 400-500 rs. from the previous semester's fees. It has many scholarships programme including 100%, 50% and 25% scholarship which can be availed by the students according to the marks you've scored in your 12th boards. Scholarships are available for all the UG and PG courses but certain criteria will be different for all. As far as I remember, you have to score a minimum SGPA to retain the scholarship otherwise you won't enjoy the benefit of it in the next semester. Psychology honours and English honours are the two courses which have lesser fees in comparison with the other courses. To all those who are not from Jaipur should stay in the hostel till 2nd year as there will be many classes after that you can rent flat or can stay in pg as there will be very fewer classes
Campus Life
If you're someone who enjoys cultural and sports events besides studies then you will love AUR. Not going to be biased but amity is the best in terms of cultural events. You will get a lot of exposure here but you should be hungry enough for everything. You find the crowd, you find your place in the world. Odyssey, which is our annual fest, is the most awaited fest by every amitian. It is a 3-day fest which has several activities including games, flash mob, dj war, fashion show, and many other things. It is the right time for every student to showcase their talent. Besides the annual fest, they conduct events and workshops every month. Department organizes its own seminars and field visits according to its curriculum. I don't have an idea about the current year as I passed out last year but during my time, some of the tests were not available as they are costly. The library is huge and you will get enough sufficient for the exam preparation.
Interview Experience
Admission in ug courses is really easy especially if I talk about Psychology honors as the entrance exam will consist of questions either on the topics related to current affairs and or some really basic topics related to economics and environment. You can crack the entrance test even without studying for it. For the interview, you have to prepare for the course you're applying for. At least you should know all the introductory topics related to your course. Interview questions are basically structured as why do you want to take admission in our college, what are your goals and aspirations, why are you interested in this specific field, and how it will help you to achieve objectives in your life. At the end of the interview, they will ask you some questions related to the course you're applying for. I read ncert and ciccarelli for the basics of psychology.
