Remarks
The Faculty seemed very much interested in research and the course had 10 different specializations to choose from at the end of the second year. I am interested in going into research and hence seeing the expertise of the faculty really made me go for the college. Although since we were the first batch of the college I was a little hesitant but still decide to go for it and have a had a really good learning experience and a lot of opportunities to go into research as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course has multiple specializations tracks as well as it is very research and project-oriented. We have a very different and well-made curriculum and our Vice-Chancellor has even gotten awards on the progressive curriculum from AICTE. There is an interdisciplinary mingling from all fields thus providing an enriching experience. Faculty to Student Ratio is about 1:30 and most of our teachers have completed Phd in interesting fields like quantum computing and high energy physics. The end-term exams are always held timely while the midterms can feel a little rushed with the VIVA going on. Other than a few teachers the online learning experience has been very smooth and interesting.
Internships Opportunities
We have received opportunities for Research Internships with and without stipends. The stipend can range from 0 to a couple of thousand rupees. Projects include Optical Character recognition in local languages, CRISIS management system using natural language processing on social media and Hospital Supply Chain Management.
Placement Experience
This is the first batch of the Btech CSE branch but there is a placement cell that has brought companies like TATA, Infosys, WIPRO to the campus. I plan to not join through the campus placement though since I want to join an MNC. The placement cell has seen about 95 to 100 percent placement in most years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The semester fee is 99750 rupees So almost 8 lakhs for the entire Btech CSE Course The registration fee is 1000 rupees No price hike until graduation There is a Vice-Chancellor Fellowship given to students who show exceptional talent ranging from 10 to 50 percent. No campus jobs due to covid but we get research internship opportunities.
Campus Life
Indus Fiesta was our Annual Fest but we could not have a Tech Fest due to Covid. We have a small range of books covering technical or course-related fields. We had a sports fest including cricket, box cricket, badminton, chess, carrom, and football. We have a competitive programming club sponsored by codechef. A journal club where we discuss research papers as well as interdisciplinary projects. We also have a poetry and drama club.
Hostel Facilities
I don't use the college Hostel but have had no complaints from my friends. The hostels are clean and the food is generally very healthy. The timings are a little strict but overall it's nice and safe.
Interview Experience
There were two interviews with Faculty including two professors who taught me. The Interviews mainly focused on personal and technical questions related to my experience in mathematics, physics, and computer science.
