My college experience

My college is one of the oldest and best fisheries college in india and Maharashtra. As this college is located in Coastal area, there is a wide scope for practical knowledge and work experience which is most important in Fisheries field.mcaer.com is official website through which I select this college.

All the faculty members are qualified person from the same field. Maximum teachers are PhD holders in their respective departments. There are a total of 7 different departments in the college in which 8 to 10 professors are working respectively. The examination pattern is semester wise in which every year 2 semester is there. In each semester, there is one midterm, one practical exam, one final exam and practical assignments are included. Because of the available facilities and resources, the practical exam was totally field-oriented.

In the last year of graduation, there is internship program in which 6 months training internship is provided in the fish processing industry and the next 6 months internship program is in aquaculture fish production farm.

As this college is one of the reputed colleges in India, different important companies of the fisheries field are coming for campus interview. Leading fisheries companies in India like CP feed company, Godrej private limited, Avanti feed company, Naik fish processing Plant, Gadre fish processing Plant etc are coming for campus interview.

Academic fees for each year is around 15000 to 20000 which includes hostel accommodation. Students who are admitted through the ICAR-UG examination having a scholarship of about 20000 per year. In the last year of graduation, there is a field training in which students are directly involved in post fisheries activities and production activities. Through these business activities, the student is able to earn money and experience too.

In the month of Feb- March of every year, there is an annual social gathering and sports competitions are organised by student representatives. Library of college is having full facilities of the reading room, computer room and nearly about all the important journals and books of fisheries field are available in the library. NSS activities are conducted by the students on a regular basis which includes beach cleaning, mangrove plantation, blood donation camp etc.

The hostel facility is very good. There are 2 students in one room. Badminton Court, the Basketball court is provided for a hostel. In-room, for every student there is a different cupboard, bed, table and chair is provided.

There is no type of group discussion, interview or written test for admission. The admission process totally depends on marks obtained in the board examination. Initially, there is the filling of preference form and after that seats are allotted to different students in different faculties.
