Remarks

NIT Durgapur (also knowns as NIT DGP) is one of few colleges that are of national importance. Monitored and maintained by Central government it is one of the best place for any student to complete the graduation. Teachers and seniors are really helpful and most importantly they help students to grow in the same way. Seniors always talk about culture of the college and how it should be improved every year and should be pass to next year which they want to better than themselves. The best part is they show the real side of world and ask every individual to work hard and smart and help them to do something best according to their potential. The only thing they ask everyone that this culture of growth should be maintained and passed successfully every year. Some people may complaint about ragging that occurs in first year to many students, but personally I as an student (2020 batch) feels it is important for every individual so that they can see and feel more of practical world.Placement of the college is very good. I myself was the TPR (Training and Placement Representative) of my college and thus can explain this best. In first 2-3 months there is big flow of IT and Management companies and almost 40 percent of students gets placed by this time. Later comes the core companies in which majority of the students gets placed easily. Meanwhile coding giants keeps on visiting the campus.Admission is entirely based on JEE MAINS marks and Class 12 marks and rank obtained by combining these. Once you got this college it is better to freeze the option and come to college on reporting day with all your documents.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The faculty and environment is absolute blessing in the college. Professors are strict at beginning but later they too becomes friendly, overall they are very helpful. Gender ratio of the college is around 3:5 in terms of girls: boys. There are many curriculum that takes place in the campus within the time being. It is organized by different groups of students and all of the students are invited. Anyone in the college will get full opportunity to participate in different events and even organize it. I would like to suggest everyone who is joining the college to try to crack the audition of at least one club (which is quite easy) it may includes drama club to dance club to research club to any of the domain. There are more than 20 clubs and each intakes more than 10 students in first year so everyone has a good chance. This will not only help you to know and experience management field but also develop different skills that will definitely be helpful during your placement time (this has happened since long before).Faculties are always there to help and will explain best with their experience but it is important to not argue with any faculty on any matter. Students may suggest improvement or their viewpoints but never argue or counter your professor's words.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I would say this is the area college is trying to improve. Internship comes but mostly for CS/IT department with requirement of excellent coders. College is trying to invite more and more companies for the same so that more students can get internships.I was not offered any internship from college.

Placement Experience

5

Placement of the college is very good. I myself was the TPR (Training and Placement Representative) of my college and thus can explain this best. In first 2-3 months there is big flow of IT and Management companies and almost 40 percent of students gets placed by this time. Later comes the core companies in which majority of the students gets placed easily. Meanwhile coding giants keeps on visiting the campus. Placement authority too is trying hard to improve the placement offers as much as possible. Meanwhile if you don't get placed in college there is nothing to worry about there are many seniors of same college is in different companies, just ask of referrer they easily gives you and then apply through it. So only thing you need to do is to prepare yourself placement will occur that for sure in this college. There are many IT giants that comes like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, JPMC, Amazon with package of over 20 lpa and requirement of excellent coders. Then comes the consulting and management companies like Capgemini, Novartis, ZS Associates with package of 6-9 lpa. Then it comes the core companies like Larsen and Turbo, Reliance Jio, JSW and all these with pure core concepts. Lastly NGOs like Pradhan, Piramal too visit the campus during the end time. Total around 110 companies visit our college every year.I was placed on 1st August 2019, in Capgemini with Senior analyst profile and package of 6.8 lpa.

College Events

There are numerous fest and tech fest that are organized in our college. The biggest among all these are organized in the last week of March for 4 days. Big stars like Shirley Setia, Papon and bands like Local train, Divine visit during this event. Apart from this usually 3 more big fests are organized over the year. In these inspiring personalities of different fields are invited and asked to motivate. Personally during my 4 years I liked the most the story of Army General who came and lectured us about the use of weapons and how they face enemies during war. Meanwhile different clubs used to organize fests regularly on all weekend which comprises of interesting games and events.Sports like cricket, hockey, basketball and other group like drama club, dance club keeps on practicing and visit all other colleges to represent us. We came 3rd in Hockey Championship this year and for the last 2 year we have finished wither as winner or runner up in all drama events across the country.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure is basically based on family's income. If the income is below 5 lpa just prepare a income certificate from the local authority and the fees becomes lower accordingly. Actually this can be viewed more clearly online on NITs or IITs portal as the fees keeps on varying little bit. As this is a central funded college there is a good scope of scholarship and financial assistance from government. I have seen some of my friends gets scholarship of 60k to 90k per annum from state government. So just keep on checking your state government or even be in contact with school board there will be certainly a assistant for this college.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

We have all the required accessories like bed, chair, table, fan and high speed WiFi. Best part is electricity never turns off in the college. Campus is very clean and green and there are restrictions too which ensure no environmental product is touched or even hampered by any means.

Admission

No this process occurs for those seeking MBA degree.Meanwhile I can share my experience just for viva that we went through during our practical exam. Professors mainly test your knowledge at each level and gradually they move to depth concept.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good as of now. But can change a little bit becuase in 4 years we will have 8 sems and 40 subjects. Subjects should be divided in such a way that it should not get burden on the students. In some sems they will just 4 or 3 subjects that will effect other sems by having 7or 8 subjects at a time. That is really tough to clear all subjects at a time that may leave pressure on the students. And another suggestion in teaching methods was therotical class and practical class has to be done parallelly because if theory classes of particular topic has been completed in this week and pratical classes of that particular topic will be executed in some other week lab sessions. That may create confusion in students and there might get forgot what they have learnt in that week. If the theory and practical classes happened parallely they will gain hands on experience on how the things will work and they can understand more better.
