Remarks

It has more patient flow. So a student can be able to get knowledge on clinical aspects. Each department provides different knowledge. Oral medicine is where the students manage outpatients and guides the patient about further treatment procedure. The radiology department is very useful for taking x-rays for patients within the hospital itself. Periodontics is for patients who want to scale and treat gum related disease. Specialised treatments like implant placement are also done in this college. Pedodontics is a speciality for children for treating dental caries & pulpectomy. Prosthodontics is for paediatric patients who need a complete denture. They also provide removable partial denture customised according to patients. Community dentistry helps students to create cancer awareness and stop tobacco usage by organising rural and urban health camps. Orthodontics is for patients who need braces. Conservative dentistry helps students with restoration and RCT.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course because I wanted to be a doctor. The faculty in this college are postgraduates in the required field. There will be one-hour lectures on each subject. The classes are conducted on smart boards. The teaching method is excellent as the faculties explain the treatments along with pictorial representation for easy understanding. The examples of patients are given for wide information among students. Case history is taken by the students to get a clarification about pre and post-treatments. There are three sessional exams conducted in consecutive months and one final exam. Each subject has two papers (theory and practicals). The students have worked hard to pass in both papers. The exam is considered "clear" only if both papers are passed. Failure of any is considered as fail. A student who failed in one paper is considered as "carry" and can continue the upcoming academic year. But if a student fails in two papers, he loses 6 months of the academic year & has to clear it.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college provides internship within the campus and provides a stipend of 5000. The intern is given the sole duties of treating and managing the pre and post-operative procedures of students. The oral surgery department is meant for extraction and surgical procedures. The students can observe the major surgical procedures conducted in the major operation theatre in the main branch (Ramakrishna Hospital). The impaction cases are managed by interns in the minor operation theatres. The Root canal procedures are managed by interns in the Endodontics department. A Pulpectomy is done by the interns as it is a specialised procedure for children. Ultrasonic scaling is done in the periodontics by interns. Mobile vans are organised with dental chairs attached within to provide treatment for poor people in remote areas. The interns are able to travel to remote areas in a mobile van and gain access to treat people.

Placement Experience

5

The students can practice in outside clinics during the internship. The internship is provided within the college with a 5000 stipend. All the students can do an internship after clearing the final year. The internship is mandatory for a degree certificate. Provisional certificate - 1 is provided for the students, showing that the students are eligible to practice under any clinics outside along with an internship. Provisional certificate -2 will be provided only after completing the internship. My plan after the degree is to set up my own clinic with the practical knowledge I got during my internship. The outside clinics allow students to take part-time or full-time practice. The college is ranked as one of the top ten colleges in India and has more patient flow when compared to other colleges in Coimbatore.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 3 lakhs per annum. I did my internship in the same college and got a stipend of 5000 every month. The internship is for one year. In that each month, the student will be posted in each department. The student has to maintain records of cases every day he treats. There will a particular quota for the student to treat the cases. The degree certificate is provided only after the completion of quotas in each department. Staffs guide the students in managing patient at every step till the completion of treatment. The patients are provided with extreme care with excellent treatment at a very low cost.

Campus Life

5

June month culturals will be conducted. Students can show up their talent in various competitions conducted in one month. It will be fun-filled. Sports day will be conducted separately. Trophies and prizes will be provided for winners. The library has good infrastructure and has different sections solely meant for each genre. There are more than 500 different books. The medical and dental journals are provided in both book format and e- format. A student can access the e-books from the medical website through the access provided by the library. Classrooms are extra spacious and hold 100 members at a time. Faculty teaches the students from dice in front to get a clear view for students. Alumni provides club for past students and conducts meet in each year. Counsellors conduct meet for students every week on Wednesday to meet the student needs. The election is conducted every year and interns will be elected to manage the needs of junior students.

Admission

I done my admission from the management quota. I paid 11 lakhs for the seat.

Interview Experience

5

No, there was no group discussion or interview. Only 12th standard marks were considered and direct admission on October 2012. I paid fees in August 2012. I paid 11 lakhs initially. The fees are paid after the 12th standard results based on marks. After which I paid 3 lakhs per annum. Hostel fees are separate which is 1,00,000 per annum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

.I honestly am not very interested in the course and still trying to adapt to it .The course would either lead you to the path of MDS in several departments and thereafter a Phd or simply a BDS degree would also make you a dentist. . The course needs more simplification and easy to understand books, easy to understand lectures and easy to follow practical work to get a knack of it. . Internal assessments are held almost once in every 2.5 to 3 months and a year end university examination that includes theory and practical exam that requires students to pass in order to be promoted to the next year. . Anatomy, Prosthodontics, Endodontics and Pharmacology are the hardest. Physiology, Microbiology and Oral pathology and Histology are the easiest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is vast. But dental also deals with practical skills. So it's not that hard. The exams can be hard if you prepare at the last minute. But otherwise it's manageable. We write 3 IA and one final paper. And we get to write a mock paper before the finals. We'll be having model practical exams as well before the final practical exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum in the first year is quite good and gives a strong base . Subjects like anatomy, physiology and biochemistry are detailed and help us understand the basics needed for later years . Curriculum helps us to improve skills through labs and dissection . Exams happens regularly- we have internal assessments every months , class tests, slip tests, practicals and university exam. The frequency is fine , but the difficulty depends on the preparation . The one year compulsory internship with stipend is also very helpful in moulding us as a great dentist . Overall , the curriculum does a great job in laying down the foundation . Because of the high patient flow our hand skills will also become improve. So it helps in professional growth .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I specifically wanted to be a dentist as there were no dentists in my family. The curriculum does educate you on patient communication, ability to handle patients well and critical thinking skills such as bls training and high tense situations. There can be more hands on training and patient prorograms and camps. Exams are held once in every year and difficulty is mild to moderate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I just always like art and biology! Dentistry was one field that included art and biology at the same time! This is what influenced me to choose this course! The college prepares you the the NEET MDS exam that is what is the NEXT exam I've talked about. And as dentists we become very precised and and excellent with out hands skills and digital designing better than students of other colleges. I don't think I have anything to say for that where they should improve..I like they're style. The NEXT exams get completed within 1 week or 2 and the University exams gets over by a month
