Entrance Preview

I took OJEE examination to study b.tech in ECE. As i was a diploma student in ECE branch so i had to choose the same branch. Silicon was a best engineering college in orissa.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was followed as pe the university (bput). It was a course of 4 year and of full time. I studied there 3 year as i was a diploma student. In the final year the course consists of less theory and more project work. Faculty help us to do best in our projects. Each year divided into 2 semester.

Internships Opportunities

Yes there was internship and stipend. But i don't know much about this clearly. I know at that time some students went for internship and received stipends.

Placement Experience

Placement in this college was 90-100%. Almost every student passed out with one job in hand. Top companies came this college to recruit like TCS, Infosys, wipro, capgemini, tech mahindra, patni, Accenture, hcl, cts and many more. The packages of the companies were between 3-4 lakhs per annum.

College Events

Events were the most enjoyable thing. There were events like techfest, annual function, freshers welcome, dj nights, sports week, antaksaries, blood donation camp, one minute game show, silicon idol, terra quiz, heritage tour and so many more.. All were so enjoyable and exciting.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure in this college was feasible. There were tuition fees, bus fees, hostel fees,. All costs for me came around 85-90 thousand per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes there was loan facility. Loan can be availed at the time of admission. I have availed a study loan of 3,32000 . If a student is having talented in academics then college provide them scholarship.

Campus Life

The gender ratio was 60:40 (male:female). Sports meets was held every two year. Students who were interested in sports could avail the sports facility after 5pm daily.

Exam Structure

There was two semester exam and three internal exams in each year. Lab tests were held with semester exams. I never found the tests and the labs hectic. Each subject contains 70 marks in semesters and 30 marks in internals.sometimes exams were held in second half of the day, so i felt little hectic those days.

Faculty

The faculties of the college were excellent. They are highly qualified and experienced in their job. They were so friendly and kind with students. Faculties were qualified with ph.d and M.tech.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

Life at NIST

Placement Experience:

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Value For money college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.

For the 5th semester the students will become eligible for the campus placements. DE shaw, dell, oracle, Infosys are the different companies. Highest package is 42lpa and average is 10 lpa. Almost 90% students get placements. I want to get placed in a well reputed company.

Placement Experience:

Placement are descent enogh. After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placement drive and become eligible for internships in 2nd year itself. Highest paid CTC was 39LPA and average package is around 10 LPA.

Comprehensive Review of Campus life at IIIT Bhubaneswar

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placementfrom the beginning of 7th semester. Major companies that visit include Oracle, Media.net, Tiger Analytics, Incture, Quantiphi, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Informatica and many others. The highest package offered was 24 LPA by Zscaler, while the average package for the electronics branch stands at 6 LPA. This year placements were affected by the recession, resulting in approx 100 students remaining unplaced.

First experience of iiit bhubaneswar

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for internship officially from 3rd yr and for placements 7th semester onwards. Recently oracle has visited and 4-6 gote in there with 26 LPA . Zscalara was also there around 15 LPA . Percentage last year was 80-85 ig. I think I will join as a software developer along with a carrier in photography but let's see what happens.
