My college experience

Anna University is a worldwide well-known campus for its versatility and creditability. I wrote my Tancet when I was in the final year of study of my undergraduate program and wanted to do an MBA. Tancet exam is conducted every year around February and March to validate the students for MBA and Mtech programs. After the results are announced, please note that your admission will take place according to the reservation of the state government. I preferred this college for the specialization in MBA it provides. Anna University is one of the few institutions which provide tourism management in Tamil Nadu. Since I was very much interested in this specialization I preferred this campus. And as we all know, Anna University is a government college, the fee structure is comparatively lower than that of other institutions. Please also note that anna university provides 2 types of MBA programs. 1) General MBA is government-aided(lower fee). 2) Tourism management is self aided with a different fee structure.

I chose this course for its unique syllabus over the period of 4 semesters. The opportunities after pursuing this course, attracted me since I was learning a lot of additional fields involved in tourism. The faculty ratio is strictly maintained as per the government guidelines since this university is considered to be the mother of other affiliated institutions. The department also has a couple of visiting faculties to ensure to maintain the student-faculty ratio. Every faculty in the department is strictly a PhD holder who have entered the department with a qualifying entrance exam too. The subject knowledge and experience the staff hold is widely vast. Since I started my course in 2020 November, I had to start with online classes, but I have never regretted it because the faculty ensured that we grasped enough subject knowledge. And about the assessment examinations, you will have to write a test after completion of 2 units which will be considered for internals.

Since I'm in my 1st year of study, I am not eligible to share my very own experience in this. But as we all talk to our seniors who are currently facing placements I can share my knowledge regarding that. First of all, general management brings a lot of placement opportunities from various banking units, IT sectors and other related industries too. But for tourism management, the college hasn't been providing any placements in the core field but enables the opportunity for tourism management students to attend the placements along with general management students. This can be a pro for students who learned tourism management but yet wanna go into the general field and a con for students who want a job in the core. However, after finishing the course, you can get into luxury resorts, hotels, airways, cruises, event management sectors for job opportunities.

Since Anna University is a government campus I can assure you that the fee structure will be definitely lower than that of the private institutions. But also note that there are two specializations offered in it. The fee structure is lower for general management since it's a government-aided course. And for tourism management, the fee is collected according to the government prescription for self aided courses which turned out to be 40000 Rs per semester in 2020. There's also a chance of a hike in fee structure for every couple of years. As anna university itself a government campus, you can find a number of community-based scholarships given to the mbc, sc, st community from around 1500 Rs to 5000 Rs per year. The head of the departments will keep you well informed about the scholarship availabilities.

Saarang by itself is a very well known brand of Cultural fest organized in Anna university every year in the month of January. Apart from this, the college also offers techno fest as a national level technical symposium which attracts students from different cities of India. Anna university consists of a Library which is grandeur with all the necessary books with recent editions also. The classroom consists of a neat arrangement of blackboard chalk and duster facilities along with projector screening amenity to support reviews and classes. Since I'm into PG now, we were not well informed about the sports clubs and activities. The campus also has its own swimming pool and conducts swimming classes for students. There are many social groups provided, related to language training, entrepreneurship development and placements. Do visit Anna University.
