Entrance Preview

Karnataka CET, Rank 916. Opted for the value Dr Kanta brought to this institution. Being in Bangalore was an added advantage.

Internships Opportunities

The internship is managed at the Vydehi Hospital attached to the institute. For the first batch, stipends were given at a low rate of Rs 2000 per month for those who entered through CET. For the management students, a stipend of Rs 2500 per month was paid. The internship was the period to get the hands-on on the clinics.

Placement Experience

4.5

A medical course is a gateway to the realm of healthcare and this institute provides all necessary in the form of value. Further, the recognition which is enjoyed by this institution makes the pass-outs easily employable anywhere. Doctors from this institution have been employed in almost all leading hospitals like Apollo, Fortis, Columbia Asia, Narayana group and some even have been employed in Western countries.

College Events

3.5

The college regularly organises seminars and CMEs for the benefit of the medical community. It also hosts cultural fest every year which also cover the Vydehi group of institutions of Nursing and Dental. Sports events are also conducted by the institute and teams from the college have participated in inter-college competitions.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college did not provide any loan or scholarship when it started. There may have been some recent developments in this regard. The college does give a priority for alumni for admission to post graduate courses.

Campus Life

3.5

As the medical course is hectic, campus life is mainly centred around studies. The college attracts people from around the country and this brings in rich diversity. Seniors and juniors readily mingle and build a strong camaraderie but there are no student/dorm parties. The college is highly tolerant on gender, ethnicity, economic status and sexual orientation.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no alumni network existing and the seniors and juniors interact only on campus. Networking on social media is also done but only amongst current students. The seniors guide the juniors wherever possible in clinics or otherwise. The students have, however, maintained relations with each other on a personal basis.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is as prescribed by RGUHS. The exam season in medicine is hectic as the run up is all about preparation and that takes easily over a fortnight. After the written papers, the practicals/clinicals and viva voce are an arduous task which is essential in a career that is associated with saving lives.

Faculty

4.5

If this college boasts of one thing as an essential asset, it is the faculty. We had the best of the professors who took all care that we learnt the basics in all subjects. Special importance is to be given on the faculty of clinical subjects who were clinicians first and teachers next, making the students practicing doctors rather than investigations specialists.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Same curriculum as the NMC is followed . In the beginning ears there wont be much exposure clinically like any other hospitals later on in 3rd amd 4th year there is more clinical exposure and patient interaction. According to me the exam level of 1st year is a bit tough as it is a changing phase from 12th to college and everything is new later on we get adjusted and find it easy and will understand how to phase the exam and how it is different from the previous exams of 11th or 12th . Only one exam will be for a academic year which includes the whole syllabus of that year
