I would like to sum up by that, if you want to go SRM, go for the Kattankulathur campus unless you have problem staying away from the family or in Chennai, which is hell.
Entrance Preview
For the SRM university admission, their own admission exam is conducted called SRMEE (SRM University Entrance Examination). I have got 13004 rank in the examinations and called for the counselling. You can go for counselling to either to the preferred campus or to the main campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is fine but you won't get enough on the term of research and development because of the lack of infrastructure. But if you have a very good and bright idea, they will sponsor you and promote you for the development and promote you for the various opportunities.
Internships Opportunities
No, my college does not provide internship opportunities to anyone. Even for the campus recruitment you will have to travel to the main campus where the main campus students will be prioritized.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are the best in the University. In fact, SRM University has been recorded in the Limca Book of records for the maximum placement in the single calendar year. Plus the amount of core companies visiting the campus is huge. But for the campus recruitment you will have to travel to the main campus where the main campus students will be prioritized.
College Events
There are two college level events which are held every calendar year, Innnovate, which is a technical fest and Rubaroo, which is a cultural fest. Plus all the departments have their own departmental fest, so the events are pretty good up there,so you have ample of opportunities.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee-structure is pretty expensive. I had to pay 1,50,000 annually for my tuition fee and 70,000 for my hostel fee. But now, they are more expensive. Currently, The fee-structure is 2,50,000 and hostel fee is 75,000 which is very expensive for any student from middle class family that too for a campus which lacks in infrastructure.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships in my knowledge have been given to only those if you have performed in sports at national level or to those who have single parent and are not in a good economic condition.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good, you will get a lot to interact with girls or boys, there is a good gender diversity. You wont find a girl in the mechanical or civil branch, but if you are in any other stream, you will get to interact with a lot of girls. Plus the campus life improved my personality by far margin.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are very good as compared to other colleges. Proper attention to the security of the students is given. Mess food is fine, but if you don't want to eat, you have an alternative option as the night canteens. So, you really don't have to worry about it much.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, alumni meets are conducted every year and senior students are also good. There have been no incidents of ragging being reported so as a junior, you are very safe there.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is a bit hectic. You will have exams each month. For a single semester, U will have two CT's for 50 marks each. Then you will go through a Model exam for 100 marks in which the full course is covered. And finally, it is the semester examination which carries the maximum weight age.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is not as good as compared to the reputation of the college. Most of the faculty comes from the nearby so that they are not proficient at all in their own subjects. So it will be good to opt for the Kattankulathur campus or if you are fine with the self-study option, then its great.
