Remarks
I preferred this college over others because it has a very strong school of sciences, and I want to maximize my post-college opportunities while still in school. We have a vast alumni network, and this helped me land a great startup. SRMIST UG Admission is purely based on merit scores either in the last qualifying exam or the entrance conducted by the Deemed-to-be University or any other relevant authority. In the field of Engineering, SRMIST Chennai offers a four year BTech programme in 35 specialisations. BTech admission is offered on the basis of SRMJEEE conducted by the University. In addition to this, a valid score in JEE Main exam is also considered for final admission. I have not used anything while preferring this college. I was suggested by my family to join this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen this course as there is a huge scope of placements in CSE. In fact, it has taken the top position in placements as compared to other fields. The student to faculty ratio is too high. For eg for a batch of 600 students, there are only 50-60 faculties. Faculty members of departments in the SRM Kanchipuram Campus can be rated as 7-8 out of 10. Experienced faculty members who are the senior professors and the subject heads have a very good grasp on their particular subjects. All assignments and projects have to be summited before the deadlines. The major problem faced with communication. Most of the faculty members are South Indian, so regional tongue is preferable for them and the South Indian Students find a bit easier to approach them.
Placement Experience
SRM placements were 70% approximately. The highest salary package offered is 40 LPA by Microsoft, and the average salary package offered is 3.5-4 LPA. Placements are average every year, and the final year students are able to get a chance to attend placements that are conducted by the placement cell of our college. A minimum of 80-90 companies visited here.
Fees and Financial Aid
SRM offers several scholarships, fee waiver schemes, teaching and research assistance to meritorious and deserving students. The quantum of scholarship and the number of scholarships are subject to change from time to time.
Campus Life
Milan and Aarush are the two national-level fests where great celebrities are invited. Campus crowd has 50-60% of North Indians and rest from other states. The library is world-class, and it has an astounding collection of books on at least 100 different fields ranging from Physics, Maths, Sanskrit, Tamil < law to almost everything. There are lots of clubs that you can join.
