Entrance Preview
I did this one year LLM. I had appeared CLAT and managed to obtain a decent rank to get into this amazing institute.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is quite impressive. Given that there is only one year time, they have managed to get hold of the best of the things. Pretty much research oriented, given that there are a lot of assignments and seminars and submissions. The dissertation part is certainly a boost for your career.
Internships Opportunities
There are some internships which are provided by the institute itself. But given that you have been bestowed with such a great alma mater, you can get any internship that you desire.
Placement Experience
There are a lot of placements happening at the end. And many reputed law firms like Amarchand Mangaldas, Khaitan and Co, AZB associates, J Sagar associates come to your rescue. Plus a lot of companies including many from abroad come to take you across your journey.
College Events
Every festival in the calendar finds its place im the life of NUJS including some of its own. The outlawed fest is one of the best of its kind, vowing as the best law school annual fest. Diwali, lohri, holi, christmas, eid, etc find their own place and you will fall in love with the cultural diversities in the campus, yet everyone celebrating all the festivals together.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Not very expensive. 1 lac 25 thousand for a one year course. Given the facilities and kind of academics,infrastructure etc., it is not that expensive. Besides you can go for scholarships provided here. Also if you manage a good enough rank, you can get your course fee reimbursed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, Top 100 people in CLAT entrace exam get their fee reimbursed. Plus a variety if other loans and scholarships are available with the institute. You can enquire with the concerned dept.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is quite amazing. People from all cultural backgrounds find their place in this small world of its own. There are a lot of parties happening thoughout the year. The NUJS night etc, are one of their own kinds to boast of cultural extavagenza.
Hostel Facilities
The life at hostel is so much fun. There are enough seats available on the hostel. Some of the flats also boast of being air conditioned. Though most rooms are on a shared basis, there are some rooms for seniors which they get it on their own. PG is not bad an option too given that in Kolkata it is very cheap.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes there are a lot of alumni network and group of pass outs which guide you throughout the whole journey, though I think it is not needed. NUJS also boasts of being an anti ragging zone.
Exam Structure
There are a lot of submissions and paper presentations giving you hectic days, but it is worth it all. The semester pattern on the other hand makes your job less burdensome given that your work is divided. And also papers and submissions carry higher percentile of your marks so the exam pattern is quite good.
Admission
The notification is usually out in February end or March first week. And everything was done online including admission and seat allocation, making the process very very easy. You can apply online, deposit the fees online. After the entrance, you can pay the whole amount and get a seat if you manage a decent enough rank. After final allocation, you have to go to the institute and just confirm your admission. So I will say the whole process was very very smooth.
Faculty
The faculty is outstanding. And they are from the best of the institutes around the world. You can measure the level from the guest faculties coming here which includes our ex-PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and Nobel laurate Amartya Sen. So reat assured you will get the best of the grooming by the faculty.
