Remarks

My daughter chose this college definitely because of its name and also she did her undergraduate from here but I guess that's the worst decision she made in her life. Now my daughter is diagnosed with clinical depression and the whole credit goes to the Department of Mathematics, Stella Maris College Chennai. The admission process was not well planned. Students were forced into a room and asked to fill out their marks and cross-checked their certificates, then followed by a computer-based test. Then if you were selected then the next day we were asked to come and attend an interview along with parents/guardians, preferably parents, if you by any chance guardian came along with you then you would have to face questions like don't u have parents are they dead? In a way, you will be humiliated so better go along with your parents.

Course Curriculum Overview

0.5

The course is good contains and covers a lot of the pure mathematics area which also helps in NET, but it's more focussed on theory rather than objective-based so if the students put in more hard work then it can help to qualify CSIR-NET. The faculties aren't considerate empathetic they are cold as stone. So any reasons or issues you face they consider it as an excuse. One more important thing they don't prefer students from other states as they think in a situation like a pandemic if we are suddenly asked to come then students from other states make a lame reason. So they consider students from other states as burdens especially the Vice-Principal Felbin C Kennedy she asked my daughter why did you join this college I didn't ask you to come. If you are seriously sick and also have the medical certificate they ask you don't look sick how did you make this fake certificate. This is how they treat students. The exams are always done according to the schedule and it's very easy to pass.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placement starts from the final year of every course students interested can enroll in the Career guidance cell of Stella Maris college, they give a brief training in aptitude GD, resume writing, and all. Many companies approach and some students do get opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

All odd semester the fee is more than even semester. Odd semester range from 14000-17000 and the final semester is also more as you pay for all the certificates. The scholarship is available for backward community students and others according to government policies. They provide it to all the needed and deserving students.

Campus Life

0.5

The campus life is dull, it's very depressing and there's no annual festival anything like that. In the UG library, you can find lots of books but in PG library the books are limited and only copy of each is available because of which always there is a scarcity of books. The classrooms all the needed resources. Students from sports quota enjoy the sports the rest of the students are asked to focus on academics. There are clubs but they only prefer students who have got the real talent there is no space of learning any new skill.

Interview Experience

2.5

My daughter had to face a personal interview where she was questioned according to the subject. They also cross verified her certificates. Also the personal interview even a parent is also accompanied it's always preferred to be parents not the guardians. If guardians tag along they ask whether your parents are dead so to avoid such a situation please tag your parents along.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It covers all core Chemistry subjects with good lab work. I chose this course for strong academics and research scope. The syllabus helps for higher studies and competitive exams like NET, SET. Practicals help in real applications. Exams are held each semester. Difficulty is moderate and most students clear easily,More workshops and industry training can be added for improvement.

There is one end semester exam and 2 CIAs in one year.Endsem is for 100m and CIAs are 40marks each . There is one assignment for each CIA for 10m each. So totally both the CIA together is 100 marks. Then the average of CIA and end semester is calculated if 40 or above it's pass otherwise you have to reappear. The subjects are not at relevant as computer science keeps changing regularly.
