SRM University Chennai, BE, Mechanical Engineering

Remarks

Well ,I believe that everything in this universe has its good and bad SRM is a nice place to grow with ample opportunities to learn outside of the curriculum if you wanna have a great experience , make sure you join a project or a team.

Entrance Preview

I had given SRM JEE exam for gaining entry in to SRM university Chennai i had an AIR 17222 i chose mechanical engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

The curriculum is easy the teachers are pathetic don't expect that you will learn anything in the class. But the only good thing about SRM is the no.of student projects and teams. There are around 100 projects run by students. These include almost 15 automobile related teams. There are many clubs fire computer science and many more this is the thing I like SRM for.

Internships Opportunities

Yes our does provide internship to students but it's a long procedure I don't have any idea about the stipend they give or the experience it would be great if you use your own contacts to get one.

Placement Experience

3.5

When it comes to placements almost all get placed in mass recruiters if you have worked on something extra other than the course curriculum towards your interest, you will definitely get the opportunity for yourself. For example students who work in student teams are more prepared compared to other students in facing the industry with their industry relevant knowledge.

College Events

4.5

There are many fests happening in the college throughout the year. Dance , music, comedy, drama, tech, competitions etc we have loads of them this is one thing you can only get in big private colleges you would get all kinds of experience here we have had people from coke studio, Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, John Abraham, Dillip Chabbria etc and other great guest speakers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I would say that the fees structure is moderate. It's a little expensive than VIT but much cheaper than Manipal. The tuition fees it's 2 lakhs a year and hostel fees depends. Whether you have ac or non ac hostel ranging from 1 lakh to 1.7 lakhs a year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes our college provides scholarships to students who score and 9.5 GPA in a semester for loan facility you can go to bank within our campus ie central union bank which would help you with the same.

Campus Life

4.5

Well, If you're a girl , SRM is a dream place for you. This is because the skewed girls to boys ratio but it is still way better than other engineering colleges. Rules for in times for girls are much lenient compared to VIT which is like a jail with girls in time being 6 whereas it's 8 in Srm.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are average every room is shared by 3 people each floor has around 100 people each building has 9 floors there are options whether you want a shared bathroom or not. I would recommend taking non shared bathroom as sometimes people make a lot of mess of the shared bathroom.

Alumni/Alumna

Coming to point of interaction with seniors, there is no issue or anything like ragging this is because of the extremely strict rules about Ragging that no one dares to violate, which is actually pretty good. Otherwise the seniors here are great and helpful .Rest everything depends on the people.

Exam Structure

We have exams almost every 20 days we have a total of 3 test series plus the final exams things are generally chill . It actually depends on how much you study even though you can get good marks studying a night before the exam college timings are from 8 to 4 the classes depend on your time table , we generally have half of our day free 2-3 days a week.

Admission

I got admission through the SRM JEE exam.It is a basic exam after that they will declare your rank only and ask you to come to Chennai for counseling. There you will choose your field with respect to your rank in the exam. I got mechanical engineering at a rank of 17k. For getting CS , you need to have a rank of Under 10k.

Faculty

1.5

Teachers are qualified for the courses but only a few are good which is okay because when you come to college, nobody is going to teach you. You have to study yourself. So it doesn't matter much to most now. Otherwise the facilities at SRM are more than sufficient.

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
