Government Engineering College Bilaspur is one of the top colleges in Chhattisgarh with the most experienced faculties n lab facilities. It also has a library providing books from every field n also an E-library. We also have a placement and training cell which helps students in getting training and internship opportunities during the semester and organizes placement drives. Admission is done on two criteria. either through JEE mains ranking or through CG-PET ranking. CG-PET exams are conducted by state authorities n occur in the month of April. The admission process starts in late May n goes till mid-July. Apart from academic... cultural and technical fests are organized annually. It takes place in the month of March in even semesters. Annual sports are also organized in February. The college comes under CSVTU (Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University). The semester exams are conducted under the university. The electrical branch is one of the top branches in this college and also due to my own inclination towards electrical...I opted for this course. The faculty in the college have at least a master's degree and most of them are doctorates. The faculty with a Ph.D. has 8-9 research papers in their name. The student and teacher ratio per class is about 7:1. The teachers have teaching experience of 6-7 years minimum and the senior faculties have a teaching experience of about 17-18 years. The professors are great, very helpful, and open to any kind of query and request. The teaching style of the faculties is more on the interactive side. There are discussions happening every now and then on the topic being taught in the class. The exams are in the month of Dec-Jan for odd semesters and in the month of May-June for even semesters. The exams are pretty decent..not very tough neither too easy. In between the semesters..mid term exams or class, tests are conducted.

From the 7th semester onwards, students are eligible for campus placement. Many campus drives are organized by the college. Interested candidates can apply for their choice of companies. 10-15 companies visit the campus drive and 15-20 offers are made by each of them. Maximum students opt for higher studies so the number of students sitting for the placement is comparatively less. I also am planning for higher studies after completing my BTech in electrical engineering.

This is one of the best aspects of college. The fee is really reasonable n cheap. The college fees are 18,000 per semester for the boys and almost free for the girls. Girls have to pay only the admission fees about 3725/- and around 2,600/- for every odd thereafter Apart from this fee waiver..there are many scholarships for SC, ST, OBC n also for students with min 70% in the 12th board. Almost the whole of the fee amount is waived through these scholarships. Apart from this ..the stationery items like notebooks, scientific calculator are provided to students of SC ST and OBC Campus Placements have increased in the recent 2-3 years..a min of 3 lac per annum job can be bagged if you're good at your course and aptitude. Apart from placement, many opt for higher studies like Mtech or MBA so goes for exams like GATE, CAT, GRE. Special classes are also conducted for students preparing for competitive exams.

The technical fest is conducted in the month of March during the even semesters. The technical fest is called Kaushalam. It is a 3 - day program. Full of fun activities n technical events for every student. It consists of technical events like quizzes, games, Expos, Seminars n much more. The technical event is followed by cultural events. Dance songs skits and DJ night. All of this is organized by the students themselves. Students from different colleges come to participate. Apart from these events, Annual sports are also organized in February. Sports like cricket, football, badminton, kabaddi, kho kho, chess, carrom are played. Both girls and boys participate equally. The library is fully equipped with books from every field, apart from academic books from different backgrounds are also present. E-library is also there n open to access for all students. The classes are fully equipped with projectors smart boards to make teaching much more effective and learning much more fun.
