Remarks
AIB was the best time of my life. The college is good and management is nice as well. You will never regret joining this college.
Entrance Preview
AIB had an internal entrance. I cleared the entrance. I can't remember the score now. However, I got a free seat easily. I liked the infrastructure, curriculum, course structure, faculty, etc., and thus opted for this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure for Biotechnology Honours was very detailed with major focus on subjects like Biochemistry, Biophysics, Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology. Electives like Entrepreneurship Development, Maths, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry etc. kept the students interested and helped them retain the school education as well.
Internships Opportunities
No. There was no internship provided by the college. We had to look for an internship on our own. However, I have heard from my batch mates that the college helped them for internship during the Masters courses.
Placement Experience
There was not a process for placements during the Bachelor degree. Also, since most students wanted to go for a higher education, none of us were interested in a job. AIB also had a tie-up with a university in Scotland, where they offered a dual course for Masters and PhD. I think that was a great opportunity for whoever wanted to join that.
College Events
We had annual culture meet, sports day celebrations, lectures from guests, festival celebrations etc., regularly. The Amity annual fest is a very big event held at the level of the University. It is the most looked forward to event of the year. Each and every student participated or went for the fest. The annual sports day celebration is also a highly enjoyed and participated in event. There is always a ferocious competition between courses, and the students had fun participating in all the activities.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure was fine when I was there, as I got in a free seat through the entrance. The paid seats and management seats were expensive though. However, the quality of education and infrastructure more or less made up for that. The fee has sky-rocketed over the years though.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were none available at the time I was studying there. There was just one scheme of dual post graduate program with a Masters degree and PhD, with a university in Scotland. That was a good opportunity. A few students opted for it as well, after graduating from the Bachelor program.
Campus Life
The campus life was fresh and energetic, with many dreams floating around. There was no negative energy in the college. The fun was unlimited, with extracurricular activities, interesting labs, a big basketball court, and a spralling lawn.Gender ratio was balanced, with mixed ethnicity.
Hostel Facilities
Since I was a day scholar, I don't have much information about the hostel facilities. However, my batch mates, who lived in the hostel were happy with the facilities. The rooms were good, common areas were nice too. Hostel seats were enough for the number of students, so they didn't have to look for PGs. However, there were a few students who wanted to live outside the hostel. The average rentals were around 4000 - 5000 INR.
Alumni/Alumna
We were the first batch of AIB, thus we are the first alumni of the college. We love to help our junior and guide them whenever they require help or information. We are in constant touch through mails and facebook.
Exam Structure
Exams happened twice a year, with frequent unit tests. However, there was no pressure. Labs were held at regular intervals as well to help us understand the practical aspects of the concepts taught to us. The exams helped us brush up our knowledge and have a strong knowledge platform.
Faculty
The faculty is highly qualified and committed to student learning. Each student got individual attention and doubts were clarified on the spot. Some of the faculty members who later moved to corporate jobs are now leaders in Biotechnology R&D. I highly recommend this college for the quality of education and focus on providing the best faculty. The concepts that were taught to us are still clear in our mind.
