Remarks
Institute is good for engineering courses particularly CS and IT as most of the placements are from these two branches. If you're dream is to get a decent job at service based companies like TCS/Infosys, then this is a good enough institute. But, if you want to go higher in research then you won't find enough support from the management. Before taking any decision, do visit the campus to get a good understanding of college.
Entrance Preview
Till 2014 engineering admissions were carried out via PET exam, but from 2014 onward admissions for engineering field is conducted through JEE (Mains) scorecard. Students are selected on the basis of merit, those scoring better All India Rank in JEE are selected first, selection is based on their choices filled during counselling session. I scored good enough rank and opted for computer science branch. I preferred this college over others because of its academic discipline and a fairly good placement record.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course for the engineering stream is same in nearly all engineering institutes of Madhya pradesh. Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya (RGPV) coordinates the exams and prescribes syllabus for every course. Most of the faculties are good and well behaved but they do not have much experience. In addition, practical oriented approach is missing in many faculties but they are hardworking.
Internships Opportunities
To be honest, Internship opportunities are very rare. You'll have to be at the top to get any chance of internship with many leading companies.I personally have not yet got any such offers regarding internship. One can apply offline for internship opportunities because there are only few 'good' companies that offer such package.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are quite balanced. One can easily get placed in service based companies like- TCS, Infosys, the only qualification is to have some basic knowledge of coding and database. CGPA must be above 6 or 6.5 to be considered worthy for written examination. Job opportunities apart from service based companies are rare to find but one can earn such if he works really hard.
College Events
A number of events are organised at the college campus. Some of them are technical, while some are cultural. Mahasavant is the annual function organised every year in the months of April/May.Technical festivals are also organised where students showcases their tech skills. The events were organized by IT, CSE, EC, EX, ME and CE departments. Some common tech festivals organised by different branches are: Techutopia, BIOS, Spandan, Electra, Hackathon, Tech Quiz etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure for B.E. courses is around 41000 per semester excluding transport fees. Bus fees is mandatory which is around 10000 per year (or 5000/semester). Tution fees is feasible enough for engineering courses.
Fees and Financial Aid
Various kind of scholarships are awarded to the students, meritorious students are given special scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students based on their quota or reservation scheme. Many students avail such benefits which are provided to them 'directly' by the state government.
Campus Life
Gender ratio for Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) is exceptionally good. While for other branches it is satisfactory. Mechanical and Civil branches has he highest gender gap among all branches.Workshops are being organised frequently. Cloud computing, Cyber Security are some of the recent workshops that were organised at the campus.Students normally prefer to remain engaged with academics. Speaking of 'Tolerance', there's nothing to worry about racial/sexual discrimination at the campus. Students from Bihar, UP and other parts of the country are already studying here. The political environment surrounding the campus is definitely not biased. Politically active groups are rare to find in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are provided by the college and can also be availed by other means. Hostel room typically ranges between 3000-5000 per person. Students can also choose to live as pay guests where rent is nearly same as that of hostels.Mess food is average, many will like the food while some might not like it. Overall, mess facility is good enough for engineering students.
Alumni/Alumna
My experience with the seniors is pretty limited. Because of the hectic schedule of classes, students interactions with seniors is not satisfactory. Lectures and practicals are distributed in such a way that one will not find enough time to get engage with senior students. You have to manage your schedule if you want any help from the seniors.
Exam Structure
Exams for semesters are held every 5-6 months. Midterms are held every 2 months while Internal examinations are held after the completion of course for respective branches. Practicals are held after the syllabus is completed. Schedule for examinations are such that it gives so little time for any other activities.
