Remarks
The time I joined this institute, it was the only one to offer a full time bachelor degree in photography. This institute offers study tours across India which helps an individual to gain on field knowledge, proves studios and a huge variety of equipments. You can use these for college assignments as well as personal shoots. The list of guest lecturers are quite good and these are the people working currently in the industry and can guide you well. Apart from these, Symbiosis Lavale is a huge campus on the hills. The scenic view outside your window will always leave you awestruck specially during the rainy and winter seasons.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum consisted of 30% of theory and 70% of practicals. Apart from Photography you're also taught about graphic designig, photoshop, lightroom, animation, motion graphic etc. which somewhere prepares you and make you industry ready. In order to get proper result and take full advantage of the college use the studios as much as possible and practice alot.
Placement Experience
There are placement cells that look after placements but not many people opt for that as freelancing is always better. Photography is anyway not a placement based job thus if you're looking for placement and desktop based jobs, photography is not for you buddy.
College Events
There are student body council that looks after the events, college fests. After joining college the first inter institution fest will be aarambh where about 9-11 institutes from symbiosis itself perform and compete. Transcend (fest by sibm) are always lit and during my time all the artists from sunburn came to our campus in order to perform.
Fees and Financial Aid
You'll find information about sclorship in college's website. There are two major ones: a) For merit based (8.5< GPA) b) For East India People. Apart from scolarships offered by college, there are few government aided scholarship. They change evey year so look them up in google.
