Anupriya Shukla's Review On Institute For Excellence In Higher Education - [IEHE], Bhopal

Since IEHE is a celebrated institution in MP, especially as far as the English department is concerned, I opted for this college. Another really important factor was the fact that I had some personal reasons to stay in Bhopal, so I had to look for the best college here itself. And IEHE was ranked first in the list.

The course that I studied needs upgradation in accordance with the UGC guidelines for NET examination, which is mostly the next step in line for a post-graduate student. The course only provided surface knowledge and no industrial exposure. A lot of important figures in the field of Literature were completely skipped. However, Debopriya ma'am did try providing utmost value to the program.

I've been doing internships from the first year of graduation. My last internship was with Fran Biz Corp for an academic content writing project, wherein I got 0.8 ppw and a total sum of 25,000 rupees for the project. I got that internship opportunity from LinkedIn, where the founder of Fran Biz Corp messaged me after checking my experience as a content writer.

For English students, not many opportunities of placement are available from the college. Generally the companies that directly take students from the college are radio companies and companies that provide training in English Language. These may include some radio stations like 94.3 or Radio Mirchi. Opportunities for teaching aren't available during the placement drive in IEHE, so most Literature students don't even sit for the placements.

IEHE holds only two important events, one being the departmental fest and other the college fest. Both do not take participation from outside the institution. Departmental fest sees participation of a smaller scale since each department organises it's own fest. Each department holds activities related with the department itself.College fest is a large scale celebration of three days, which is concluded with the traditional day. The participation is insane and it is one of the biggest events of any academic year.

I did receive merit scholarship twice, which is a scholarship of 2000 rupees that one can avail after his/her meritorious performance in an academic years. In other words, if you have consistently performed well in the academic sphere for two straight semesters, then you'll be awarded a merit scholarship.

The infrastructure of IEHE is mediocre, considering certain facilities that need immediate upgradation. The library doesn't have considerable amount of books, especially for a Literature student. Sports is given priority in the institution and latest equipments are provided with decent amount of guidance. One can also access free wifi services for any academic purpose.
