Remarks

Fees is very affordable so anyone can easily pay it. Teachers and Professors are very educated, polite and good. Transport is easy for students as the college is situated at easy location near puri highway. College is very old and has good reputation. The certificate which students get after passing is valuable as it is a government college as well as the college has strong stones.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is updated as per latest curriculum released by Utkal University as BJB is affiliated to Utkal University. Since the college runs on merit basis all students with good % are students of this college. The facilities are good and all facilities are available in the college. There is a library with mostly latest books. There is a study room as well.

Placement Experience

3

Mostly companies like Tech mahindra and Wipro hire students from here. However discovering opportunities outside the college is better because campus has very limited choice in terms of placement and package is usually low as compared to outside.

College Events

4

College organises an annual function and a sports event every year where different events are arranged. People do dance, speeches, singing are given. There are multiple departments hence everyone is invited in the program hence it's quite large and crowded. However every year the events are huge success and enjoyable.

Campus Life

3.5

There is a big ground for football, there is a basket Ball ground and a cricket ground as well. Library has 3 counters separately for science, commerce and arts. You can issue books as per your requirement and availability of library and return it within given timeline else some fine will be charged.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

College hostel is separate for boys and girls. First of all the college hostel is allocated on reservation basis. The ST/SC gets the first priority followed by the OBC and other reservation categories. If after that any vacancy is there then general people are given chance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.
