Remarks
The college is an average college with more focus on academics rather than extra curricular activities. However interested students will find ample opportunities to showcase their interest academically or through sports or other extra curricular activities through various forums organized through the college university as well as other university and college within the vicinity.
Entrance Preview
I took Odisha Joint Entrance Examination OJEE which is the state entrance examination for admission into colleges undet BPUT university in Odisha the main university of the state. Based on the scores you get ranking.Being an average student I got decent score to get a rank of about 8000 post which I went through counselling process where you get to choose the college and course based on availability. Being a local boy I chose the college and the course was suitable for my interest.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is decided by BPUT as per standars. The course consists of 8 semester with different subject in each semester. Besides subjects there are laboratory as well based on which students are graded. The 1st and 2nd semester curriculum is common across all the courses and it is only from the 3rd semester onwards that some course related subjects are introduced. There are individual project and viva in 7th and 8th semester.
Internships Opportunities
There are no internship offers as such from the college itself however it is upto the students how they want to utilize their summer holidays. Mostly opt for some additional courses keeping in mind personal interests.
Placement Experience
Being a mid tier college witn average fees the placement offers are not many. However there are ample off campus taking place on behalf of BPUT university where the college can participate. Sometimes companies like Infosys,Wipro have visited the college and inducted large number of students. In my time I was lucky to have multiple offers from Mahindra Satyam and Accenture all through off campus.
College Events
Arohan is the main college fest organised generally during the winters. Its mostly limited to the college itself showcasing various events culturally and academics. Apart from that there are many seminars and presentations taking place in the college. Being with close proximity to NIT,Rourkela student get to participate in events conducted at NIT as well which are generally large events attracting students from all over India.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible in comparison to other private colleges in the state or for that matter in India. The cost of living is also low in the city. The city is nice and very good. The fee for each year is around 1 lakhs which makes overall fees across 4 years 4 lakhs. This is exclusive of semester fees which is to be deposited to the University before each semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loan facility is available from various leading banks and is easy to apply during admission process itself. Scholarship are available however I am not aware of the details. The college itself gifts scholarship each year to top performer students in each semester.
Campus Life
Campus life is good with hundreds of memories to make. The gender ratio is good with a good number of girls taking admission. There are various cultural amd sports societies to be a part of and there are many events in and around the city where students are encouraged to participate. There are hardly any such instances of violence amd fights because of reasons such as ethnicity, race, religion etc. The city is peaceful and so is the college.
Hostel Facilities
The girl hostel is near by the college but not within the main campus. It is within walkable distance. The hostel security is good with 24*7 security as well as 2 hostel superintendent. The food is average and cheap and you get many eateries near by as well. Same goes for boys hostel which is a bit farther from college but almost walkable.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an annual alumni meet organized every year by the college. College seniors are generally very friendly amd helpful and the relationship between each batch is good. Hostel and local students both share an equally close bond with the juniors.
Exam Structure
As with any engineering colleger in India exams are divided into 8 semester exams and each semester consisting of 3 pre-sems and a main exam. Apart from that each semester contains minimum of 4 labs. Grading will be done based on scores on each of these levels.
Faculty
The college faculty is good and strict as well sometimes which is good considering overall students are generally many in number. The HO.Ds of each departments are generally quite experienced and from premiere institute of India.
