Remarks

The Indian Institute of soil science offers a vision and perspective unlike anywhere else. I get to meet the most respected and influential people in the field of soil fertility in the regular seminars, and we receive world class training.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is flexible in its structure. You have to submit monthly and half-yearly progress reports and presentations; attend seminars, national and international workshops, present your research papers in different institutes and constantly work on your thesis.

Placement Experience

3.5

There are no placement cells and there is no focus on placements. The priority at IISS is to make progress in scientific research in soil sciences and test it practically. Naturally, the reputation of IISS and the rigorous training play a crucial role when looking for placements later.

Fee Structure And Facilities

PhD programs the world over are free and a fellowship is paid, generally every month, the amount of which is determined by the GoI and ICAR guidelines, it changes with time, and the seniority of the research scholar.

Campus Life

The institute has different labs with all the modern sophisticated equipment for the latest path-breaking research. There are libraries, and a data and information collection center which is used extensive for indexing. Every month has its schedule for seminars, guest lectures and workshops.

Admission

The admission for PhD starts with an entrance exam which is conducted by ICAR for all the institutes under it. Then you have to appear for a panel interview, if you qualify both of these, you will be selected for admission

Faculty

4.5

The faculty comprises of the top specialists in the various fields of soil sciences, scientists and researchers, dedicated to their job and always ready for an intellectual discussion. They are approachable and passionate minds.
