Not a negative but it does performs like every other govt institute. Everything is student driven and faculty is least bothered about the placements.
Entrance Preview
I appeared for CAT and scored a decent 90 percentile. I chose Nit because of ROI. Its among bests in ROI in india. And being a govt institute, that NIT tag really helps in professional career.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was a trimester pattern curriculum. So we had exams thrice a year, and exams lasted some one month so 3 months of study and 1 month exams. Weekends usually had guest lectures.
Internships Opportunities
Generally stipend was in tunes of 8 to 10k for our batch. But most of the students did free internships. Not many companies came for internships, students have to arrange internships on their own.
Placement Experience
Placements are good specially if you want an IT company. Cogni, Infy are few to name. Usually placements reach 100%, but sometimes its hard to achieve 100%
College Events
We had 2-3 grand events in an year.Celebrations were fun, and packed with lot of new things to explore. College gave us 500 rps on every event to spent on food and activities. Fests were total fun.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees was the only reason i joined Nit. It was dirt cheap and ROI was too good.Total couse fee including hostel, mess and tution was only 1.8 lakh for 2 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loans are easily available across all banks. And scholarships depends on the state you belongs to. As for internal scholarships, i dont have any idea about them.
Campus Life
Campus is really lavish with all sports facilities including swimming pool, badminton court, cricket ground, and basketball courts. Its a heaven for sport freaks.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels were very comfy and good, except during summers as students were not allowed to have air coolers or AC's. And surviving trichy heat just in fan is a bit challenging.
Alumni/Alumna
To be frank, college has recently started following their alumnus network. And they have formed a alumni committee for following up and building the alumni network.
Exam Structure
Exams were devided in 2 sections. 1 internals and 1 externals. Internals were of 25% and 75% for written exams.Internals depends on the internal performance of students in class.
Faculty
Faculty was ok ok only. Few were really great but there were few who don't even deserve to be called professors.As its a govt institute, you will get all the help from faculty but you have to extract it from them.
