Course Curriculum Overview

It is a five year professional course which includes subjects like history, political science, sociology, constitutional & international law etc. Other than that we also have our debates, moot court sessions, case studies and a lot of research work which further makes the course more interesting and attractive. The main focus is to equip the students in such a way that we can tackle any legal situation that arises in future without any harsh mentality.

Placement Experience

4

Internships with the law & corporate firms , arbitration center, NGOs and judges of high court of Karnataka were offered to students in my batch. These internships were unpaid in nature as it was firmly on for students to gain experience. Law firms such as S & R Associates, Talwar Thakore and Associates, Desai & Dewanji, J Sagar And Associates visit our campus and select a pool of students for different roles. The salary for the same ranges from 40,000 to 60,000 per month.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total fees is 2.45 L per year. You need to separately pay the hostel & mess charges. The expense for the same are around 80,000 for a year. A one time security deposit is also to be paid at the beginning of the first year.

Campus Life

Remedial classes are organised for those students who have failed in a particular subject so that they can uplift themselves and their chance for improvement.Every Saturday we have our debate competitions on the topics related to legal issues, political and social - economic changes happening in the country. Orientation programs are organised and we are taken to field visits so that the students get a brief about the ailments that are prevailing in our country and why it needs to be improved. We also have inter class moot competition to get a practical experience about the laws & court procedures. Many sports tournaments and cultural activities like singing, dance competition are held in the college from time to time.

Hostel Facilities

The reading room (library) of the college remains open from 6 am to 2 pm every weekday. There is also a borrowing section from where students can issue books. The hostel rooms are also quite spacious and clean. Facilities such as fast internet connection, newspaper & TV room, medical facilities, hot water bath facilities, basic furniture for personal use, electricity are provided to students. There are 108 rooms for double occupancy and 46 rooms of single occupancy which you can choose according to your comfort.

Admission

You need to have at least 45% marks in the 12th standard from a recognized university or board. 40% marks in the case of students belonging to the reserved category. The admissions are strictly based om merit. Luckily I had my name in the second list of the college and was called for a counselling round. After showing them my relevant details such as migration & transfer certificate I was given admission in the college.

The teachers are really helpful and supportive in any case. They always lend a helping hand to the students in need , talk to them and solve their issues in a very polite manner. They give us assignments and case studies to complete within time so that we know about the judiciary system & society on a wider angle. The teachers are all experienced individuals with years of experience. From my part I would say that they help us in accomplishing our goals to become a good advocate and serve the society.

Placement Experience:

Last year due to recession the placements were low comparatively. From semester 7 onwards we are eligible for campus placements. I do not exactly have the correct statistics, but all the students who tried outside got the jobs easily. Highest package 32 lacks and least goes upto 3 lacks per annum. Last yearpercentage of students placed is 66 and before that it was more than 90 My plan is to get a good job, after the degree and if I cannot get a good job then I will go for higher studies abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is not at all relevant, they are still teaching us subjects like c and electronics. For eg - in our 4th semester we have vb.net as our programming language which is very outdated langauge. There were also two language subjects - general English and additional language (hindi,English, kannada) which I think is kind of useless to learn two language in BCA.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements by the start of the 7th semester, and the internships by the 5th semester. Since Mangalore has many MNCs, most of the campus drives start with those companies. We have an average package of 18LPA and it varies according to each branch of engineering. Mostly all the computer science-related branches have 23LPA as their average and the core branches have 14LPA. Almost 95 per cent of the students get placed. The highest package has even crossed 50LPA.
