Remarks
The Queen Mary's College is an exclusive women's college in Chennai. It is serving in the field of higher education for about 100 years. Their aim is to uplift the women students from weaker sections of the society and bring up all the women.
Course Curriculum Overview
We have 4 semesters for M.Sc., Tourism Administration. The college follows CBCS pattern for exams. The curriculum includes lectures, tutorials, seminar, project, Viva Vice, etc. We also have field survey report and case studies in tourism.
Placement Experience
The college has a placement cell to train the students for campus interviews. We have more than 15 recruiters from diverse fields. Not just the IT background students get placed. But also students from commerce, life sciences and material sciences get placed in core companies.
College Events
We have so much of cultural fests all over the year. The students are given chances to perform and exhibit their talents. Other than that we have sports day, annual day, pongal celebration,etc. Apart from this, the campus is found busy with so much of academic related events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is framed in such a way that it can be afforded by all the students. The tuition fee for PG course in Tourism Administration is around ?.700/- per year. Other than this, the semester fee have to be paid before every exam.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers various scholarships for the economically weaker students like SC/ST, BC, MBC,etc. They also provide endowment prizes through DCE like National Loan Scholarship, National Scholarship in merit basis, Scholarship of Lord Pent Land & Lady Pent Land, Lalitha Sankara Narayana Iyer Scholarship, Stone poor students fund, etc.
Campus Life
We have wings for NSS, YRC, RRC, LSS, ADC, ROTARY and a big sports club. The college greatly encourages sports students in all competitions. Other than that, the college has a cooperative store for the benefit of students and teachers. The grievance redressal cell is there to hear any kind of complaints regarding discriminations.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms for accommodation are found inside the campus. This is established in a view to help the students from other cities and ensure their security. So far, there are 250 rooms with basic amenities. The food served is healthy and maintained hygienically.
Admission
The mode of applying is only through offline application form. You can get your application form from the college office. The eligibility for PG course is a UG degree from a recognized university. The admission is purely based on merit ranking.
Faculty
This PG degree is offered by the department of Geography. The department changed the degree in Tourism Administration from M.A., to M.Sc., in the year 2000. There are nine faculty members working along with the HOD Geetha mam.
