Course Curriculum Overview
The course is really well-structured. None of the topics are out of place, and they're chronologically well-placed. When we start a new topic, we usually already know the basics, because those were covered sometime before. Exams are regular, held by the university. It isn't too hectic.
Placement Experience
The college does help us with placements, through the Career guidance and placement portal. A few companies regularly visit the campus, with Wipro and South Indian Bank the biggest recruiters, and Federal Bank also taking a few students. There is still room for improvement, of course, but considering most students go for higher studies anyway, the placement figures are pretty good.
College Events
There are a number of different fests conducted. the Home Science has its own fest, and so does the Physics department - it is called Amo fiziko. The cultural fest of the fest is called 'Chamoyi', and it sees widespread participation every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total fees for the three-year course is around Rs.10,000. That is avery affordable amount compared to many other colleges in the same quality bracket. It is certainly quite feasible for the general public.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are a number of scholarships provided by the college for different groups of financially challenged students, while some are incentives for good performers. Some examples of scholarships include Post Matric Schloarship (For Minority Community), PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities and Scholarship for the Wards of Beedi Workers.
Campus Life
There are a number of clubs in the campus - Quiz, debate and eco club - where students participate for extra-curricular activities. There is ASAP, Additional Skill Acquisition Programme, where students can develop a number of skills required in the industry sector. There are anti-ragging guidelines, and also a College Student Union.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are available for the students. There are 4 hostels for girls, and 1 for boys. The demand is so high, that advance booking is required for a room. The facilities are good, and there is good supervision for students' safety.
Admission
Admission to Nirmalagiri College is through the centralised portal of the parent university, Kannur University. I applied using my 10+2 scores, and I got selected. I took admission here as the college has a fairly good reputation.
Faculty
The faculty member are qualified, and they have a lot of experience, which they use well to help us through the subject matter. They have their unique ways of teaching us the subjects, and they keep us interested right through the years.
