"Life as a Doctor-to-be in Deccan"

The course curriculum is okay. But still there is a lack of proper seminars or workshops that should have developed us. Exams are properly done, and we've to attend 2 exams since it's a 2 paper test. Both theory and practicals are conducted at the correct time. During exams we are sp tired with the hectic syllabus and runs out of mind because of the vastness of the syllabus.

For MBBS students there is no particular placement available, but we are given a Stipend of Rs.30000. More opportunities are for Pg students in MBBS. There are hospitals hiring pg students just after their Pg course. Internship period provides a lot of experience to the students.

Our College is blessed with a huge indoor stadium and all other infrastructures. Every year we have Sports day celebrations accompanied by various cultural events. Many inter collegiate competitions/events too are open for us.

The college follows the fee structure formed by the Medical Council of India. Ever year the fee structure is changed according to the instructions of the Telangana Government. Fee structure is little expensive since it is a private institute. It is 2 lakhs per year for an MBBS student.

There is no particular scholarship offered by the College. Telangana Government provides scholarship facility for deserving students and it helps a lot of students belonging to the middle class community to achieve an MBBS.

The college not only instills theoretical and practical knowledge, but certain ethical knowledge too. To get a relief from the hectic syllabus, there are many extra curricular activities. College offers a proper laboratory, library and organisation of cultural events. Student diversity is achieved in a right ratio. Gender equality is maintained in the right amount.

As an alumnus, I'd say Hostel life is the most important thing I miss even today after 2 years of course completion. Students enjoy a lot in the hostel because it is the sole relief for them from the huge tiresome syllabus. Though the food and other facilities are poor, elements of enjoyment is great there.

We're in constant touch with the alumni and the senior students are very good and helpful in our studies as well as in other factors. They provide notes that is a great help for the current students.

I dreamt of becoming a Doctor since my childhood and my family stood with me throughout the Journey. Admission in Deccan Medical College was primarily on the basis of NEET UG scorecard, but since it's a private college, the college authorities organised another exam EXAMCET followed by the college counselling session.

I'm blessed to have such a nice faculty. They're so supportive and helpful. Each one performs well using their teaching skills and students are made to understand the syllabus clearly. They're well aware of the capacity of the students and often act accordingly.
