Entrance Preview

I wanted to become an engineer so i chose to do B Tech .The entrance exam that i appeared was EAMCET 2010 and my rank was 180000. I opted for Andhra University (1st choice), Gayatri college (2nd choice), Anil Neerukonda college (3rd choice) and Vignan's Institute of Information Technology (4th choice). For my rank i got seat in Vignan's Institute of Information Technology in IT branch. The admission process was online web counselling called EAMCET counselling and there was no interview in this process.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

Well the course curriculum is very ordinary and the whole focus is on improving the individuals percentage. No focus on research because in our college the highest priority is given to exams and marks. The college always tries to secure highest pass percentage among its competitors. The course for a semester takes around 5 months. You will have to do 6 subjects in a semester and the number of labs depend on the semester and year. For us we had to secure a minimum of 200 credits out of a total of 208 credits.

Internships Opportunities

Our college did not provide any internship because as i said our college intentions are to achieve highest pass percentage so the prime focus is on exams and results. That's it no internships.

Placement Experience

1

Placements are not so good. Let me tell you that only couple of known companies came to recruit students when i was in my 3rd year. Those companies were infosys and tcs and the are given below. From our batch only one student got selected in infosys with a pay package of 3 lakhs per annum INR (7 in total from our college) and one student got selected in tcs with a pay package of 2.4 lakhs per annum INR (17 in total from our college) .

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is not so feasible because i paid around 1.38 lakh INR for my course which according me is between feasible and expensive. In my first year i paid 32500 INR as admission fee while joining the institute. The fee includes tution fee 25000 INR, one time fee of 3000 INR, stationary fee 2000 INR, exam fee 1000 INR, student identity card charges 500 INR , PC and CMM charges 500 INR, Miscellaneous fee 500 INR. Extra fee for hostel and mess. In my 2nd year i paid 34000 INR. In my 3rd year i paid 35000 INR and in my 4th year i paid 36000 INR.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any scholarships. But the college offers scholarships to students with low parental income. What i know is that those students who avail the scholarship will get 80% of the fees that they pay every year. The scholarship is offered every year. Regarding the loan facility i do not have any idea because i did not had the need to avail the loan.

Campus Life

1.5

The campus life is not so lively. The life inside the campus is very ordinary. The campus is very small. Don't expect university kind of life here. You can enjoy better outside the campus rather than inside the campus. The gender ratio is 6:1 boy to girl ratio. You don't find great diversity of people here. Maximum of the students are from local areas or from nearby places. We did celebrate good number of birthday parties in our classroom usually in the evening after the end of the classes.

Alumni/Alumna

I did not had interaction with the alumni network any time but i did had a good experience with my seniors. They are very nice and helpful. They really helped me a lot in clearing my doubts when it comes to exams. I used to have interactions with my seniors now and then during my course and even now i am in touch with some of my seniors. My interaction with my seniors actually started in my 2nd year. The college management does not allow the students of 1st year to talk to their seniors just to ensure their safety.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is not at all ok. See our college is affiliated to JNTU Kakinada. So all the end semester exams are scheduled by JNTUK. They set the papers and they evaluate the papers and announce the results. In a semester there are total of 6 papers to appear in the end semester exam which happens after the completion of the course. The exams take place for a total of two weeks and after each exam you get one preparation holiday.

Faculty

1.5

The faculty is pretty average according to my observation. They are not so keen or interested in the subject. They just come to teach because it is their profession. The duration of a class is 50 min and out of that the lecturer wastes at least 10 min for attendance. Don't expect phd professors as none of our department faculty is a phd professor. So you will not find standards when it comes to teaching a course. Our department had 8 faculty members which also includes the head of the department when i was studying.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best and for some it could be worst part also , it doesn't matter whether you're a mechanical engineering student or EEE or CSE you should have to learn every single programming language from C to python including DSA and cloud computing which will help you to switch your career easily if you want. but however at the same time the mechanical students feel stressed alot. because they have to study their own field subjects which are not easy at the same time they have to clear the programming languages which are completely different from mechanical subjects

Placement Experience:

If I talk about my branch, as per my knowledge from 6th semester onwards the students can sit in the placement run. The college offers placement training with individual of expertise from that respective subject. Many top companies visit the campus to list out, AWS, INFOSYS, JMAN, TCS, IBM are some if them. More than 50 lakhs package is secured. The average lies around 4 to 5 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placed varies from branch to branch and for some branches it's 100%, the average package for them would be 3 lakhs per annum, and the highest goes around 12 lakhs per annum. Students can apply off campus if they didn't get placed.
