Remarks

The overall rating for the college can be given as 6 out of 10, which is average. The management of the college needs to be improved as there is an all-time experience in facing huge delay while making any decision, even if the matter is of very less importance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Except for a few subjects, all the other subjects, which are a part of this course curriculum, are theory oriented. The syllabus is designed such to provide basic theoretical knowledge pertaining to every subjects. Less industry-specific knowledge is given, that is in other words, the syllabus is less practical oriented. No industry visits are organised as such which can be considered as a drawback of this course. The syllabus is not frequently changed as per changes in the corporate world. But basic theory knowledge gives the candidates a good grip on the subjects.

Placement Experience

3.5

Generally, the college is successful in placing all of their students till the completion of the course. The year 2020 stands out to be exceptional due to COVID-19 situation, but the college has given special extention to the placement process for the remaining candidates to get placed. The companies which come for recruitment to this college are HDFC, ICICI, HSBC, Kantar IMRB, Amul, Tata Motors, Tata Voltas, etc. The candidates are shortlisted by the companies as per eligibility criteria and then the shortlisted candidates have to go through GD-PI and HR rounds to finally get selected. The college generally do not train their students before placements by taking mock interviews.

College Events

4.5

Various events are organised in the college, where some are celebrated nicely. MANAGEREAL is the inter B-schools event of IISWBM with many games and competitions lined up. KRIDA is the college sports event. PARADIGM is the college alumni meet day organised every year. INSIGHTS is the event organised where alumni from various organisations came and share their success stories. UMMEED is the college social event where college students visit various less developed schools to help underprivileged children. There are other events too which make the college life full of fun.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college fee structure is one of the most affordable in the country in comparison to all the other colleges of the country belonging to the same category. The fees for two years is 6 lacs and the breakdown of this fee structure is provided by the college to maintain transperancy. No additional fees has to be paid to get admission as the selection strictly happens as per merit basis, as mentioned above.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans are easily available for this course as the college has tie-ups with banks like SBI, HDFC, ICICI, IDBI Bank. I took loan from HDFC bank with interest rate of 11.5%. The processing of loan doesn't take much time. You will get your loan cleared with a week or two. Students can also opt for partial loans, that is instead of paying 3 lacs yearly, the student can pay 1 lac from his personal savings and the remaining 2 lacs by taking loans. For the first three years, only the interest of the loan amount is charged from the candidates. The tenure of the loan can be as long as 10 years.

Campus Life

1.5

The campus life is average. The events make it fun but the boring lectures and less Industry exposure makes it quite dull. The gender ratio varies from batch to batch. On an average, the male:female ratio is 3:2. All students are generally from a well-to-do family. Practice of politics is strictly prohibited in the campus. Students get a lot of opportunities in their whole course curriculum to participate in various events, sports, competitions, social works etc. Opportunities to earn lot of recognitions are there for all.

Hostel Facilities

3

No, I haven't opted for hostel facility. But hostel facility is there only for female candidates who are from other cities except Kolkata. As per my knowledge, rooms or very basic and double-shared. Hostle seats are limited and are served on a first come first serve basis. Rental is relatively less as compared to other B-schools of the same category.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of IISWBM is very strong and that is the reason why the college is able to provide 100% placement every year for the students of this course. We get to interact with the alumni network through social media, various college events and the alumni meet day (PARADIGM) organised by the college. A lot of students get benefited from the powerful and valuable insights provided by the alumni and many referrals for placements too.

Admission

The MBA (Day) course of IISWBM, also known as the flagship course of IISWBM, only accepts CAT scores. Admission forms are out in the month of August or September in the website which are to be submitted to the concerned college authority within stipulated date. The date of form release and submission varies every year. Candidates for MBA (Day) course are shortlisted on the basis of CAT scores and the shortlist is published on the college website. Shortlisted candidates are called for GD-PI and interview rounds, after which a final list is published on the college website where names of selected candidates are listed.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the college faculties are highly qualified professionals from top notched B-schools of Indian like IIMs. The way of teaching varies from faculty to faculty. While some lectures are very interesting to hear, some are so boring that you may fall asleep in the class. Teaching methods of most of the faculties are highly traditional and hence they resist changes, like cases related to implementing of well equipped laboratories and classroom gadgets.

Placement Experience:

We were a post COVID batch. So placement was quite slow. Our placements started from 3rd semester itself but salaries weren't good as the COVID effect was still there. But still we received placement assistance even after our classes got over and that's how I got my placement. It was more than 90% in my batch and I worked for 2 years after getting placed.
