Remarks
Since it is already a very well known University it could improve its infrastructure like LPU college, practical learning experience is very low which needs improvement.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum has a total of 75 subjects to be completed in four years and most students feel our first year of college is very irrelevant as the syllabus involved most of the concepts and topics covered in pre high school. We had three internal exams before the main exam of every semester which is a very effective way of finishing up the syllabus in the right time and it really helps in revising the whole syllabus in a smart way before the main exam especially if you wish to aim for good grades.
Placement Experience
As I had further study plans I did not sit for placements but I have availed the coaching facilities provided by them. During my academic year I completed two summer internship programs and took on two projects which were part of the curriculum. The percentage of civil engineers placed in civil engineering companies is quite low because most of us lack practical experience or knowledge.
College Events
The technical festival known as Aarush Fest which took place once a year which involved all startups events and workshops. I took part in learning how to build a website and attended robotics workshops whereas on the cultural side we had another festival in which all colleges from the state are welcomed to witness celebrations like drama, arts, performances by talented driven students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The college provides a different fee structure for those who secure their admission online and offline. In my case I had to do it online since Im not from Chennai hence I was told that I fall under a different category where I had to pay an extra amount as my tuition fee for all the academic years but I had no choice as this was not conveyed to me by the university. Mode of payment accepted is online or Demand draft.
Fees and Financial Aid
No I have not opted for any educational loan or scholarship provided by the University but you can avail fees incentives if you are a topper for the entire academic year i. e, two semesters in total.
Campus Life
The best thing about campus life is the campus cafe food which had alot of varieties since hostel food was whack and our hostel was very strict in their timings. The gender ratio in my class exceeds the female ratio by a very huge number since its Engineering and teachers are a little racist towards students like me belonging from the north eastern part of the country but there were students from the all corners of the country we even had students from nigeria, Dubai, Afghanistan hence its very diverse as a University as a whole. The only way to get a seat in the student community head is by being an active participant in all festivals, events hosted my the University.
Hostel Facilities
Yes I stayed in hostel for a year which was a very sad or should I say pathetic condition comparing to the amount paid annually. We had to share a tiny non AC room with three members and there is no attached bathrooms in the hostel I opted so we had to shower in the dirty washrooms which most times had very less running water and also the size of the bathroom which had one shower head and an Indian pot without any flush is a real shame.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is communicated through mail and they hold workshops which we can give our entry we are attending or not but there is no online mode if you wish to see what's going on especially if you are not in that state. I cannot really say about being helpful as I have not reached out to any Alumni as the network of communication is quite absent.
Admission
I attempted SRM entrance exam which was the first step to admissions and then according to the marks secure they convey the campus available to study according to my merit but to secure my admission in that particular stream selected my pre college grades were required to reach a particular mark. As this Institution is one of the best private Engineering Universities so I opted Civil Engineering here as I believed that I would be gaining the maximum learning experience here.
Faculty
The 5-8hours lectures daily which depends on the odd/even semester system received were very relevant and useful but the practical learning part was very minimal in comparison to the theory which I feel should be more stressed on as the subject I took up requires more practical experience in the subject. The lecturers were also professionals in their own field but time was a factor and its the sad truth in our country where teachers only try to complete their syllabus.
