Remarks

I had the most memorable time at the chosen course and college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

It was a class room teaching for the first 2 years. In the second year and third year, there was clinical postings at hospitals in different specialities. Exams were held throughout year. The course did provide me necessary knowledge and skills to secure a job following my internship. As such there was no any industry visits during my course duration.

Placement Experience

3

As it was MBBS program, there was no visit of companies for the placement purpose. However, students, who had completed their course and internship, had got jobs in reputed hospital.

College Events

3

Debate, sports, cultural programs were organised in college every year. I had participated in marathons. It used to be for 1 full week. All the students were encouraged to actively involved in the program and that was the only time where large number of students can have social life.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Each year tuition fee was Rs. 35,000 by cash. It was expensive for my parents to pay. However, additional charges were for Library, Gymkhana, college bus fees, study materials, lab coat, journals, digital devices fees, hostel fees, clinical devices fees. College did provide transparency in regards to fees from the beginning.

Fees and Financial Aid

Through, Government quota, I had got the free seat in private medical college. As such the fees for private seat was much higher than my fees. That was the only scholarship.

Campus Life

3

More were male students. As such there was no gender, race, cultural, economic, religion and sexual orientation difference. All were given equal opportunities based on Indian laws. There were extracurricular activities in sports, essay, debate etc each year.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes, I had to opt for private hostel during my clinical training as the hostel facility were given free to post graduates. I was sharing my room with 4 additional classmates. The rooms were having all the basic facilities. We all were paying our monthly rentals.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were really helpful in clinical & non clinical teachings. There all were really friendly and approachable.

Admission

It was my childhood dream to be Doctor. I had burnt mid night lamp to score the desire marks to get admission into medical college on merit basis. After 12th result, I had applied through government quota list of medical colleges for admission purpose. There was merit list & ranking system. Luckily, my name was selected for admission purpose. I was sent a letter of invitation to attend an interview. Happily, I went for an interview at J. J. Hospital, after waiting for an 7-8 hours, my name was called. As such there was no seat left in Mumbai, but only one last seat was remaining at Terna Medical College at Navi Mumbai. And I opted to choose it because I wanted to be Doctor.

Faculty

3

As it was a professional course, so there was lots of independent studies involved. However, there were lectures for non clinical subjects, app. 6/day. Lecture program were very informative as they all were taken by specialist. During clinical training, there was exposure to medical & surgical practical training.

The course is standard for all MBBS courses. There are theory lectures and practical classes. Hospital exposure begins in the second year onwards. Current revisions in the course like introduction of logbook etc are unnecessary and time consuming.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is definately a tough course. along with being tough, it also puts some responsibilities on your shoulders as you will be treating real people with real problems in the real world as you complete this course. while studying, students should focus more on 'why' and 'how' type questions than 'what' type of questions. the major exams are conducted in 9 semesters . each semester is of 6 months + 1 year of compulsary internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The current curriculum is comprehensive based curriculum. Here practical knowledge is more important than bookish knowledge. So now spending more time in wards is of greater importance. Exams are held accordingly - 2 internals, 1 prilims and 1 University held by MUHS. Each exam is followed by practical examination. This curriculum will help to build good doctors rather than bookish doctors.
