Remarks
I had the opportunity to study in one of the best colleges of Hyd and I am very grateful for that. The management was excellent and I did not face any problem while I was there.
Course Curriculum Overview
Being an English literature student, learning was mostly text based though we were groomed to be future lecturers with emphasis on English speaking skills by organising various debates and competitions. It was definitely helpful in securing on campus placements as along with spoken English skills, written English and personality development were given equal importance.
Placement Experience
Since I had done my post graduation in the year 1986-1988,it was left to the students to apply for posts directly or to opt for higher studies. The institution did take steps to groom the students for whatever they wanted to do in life;it was a preparation keeping all options in mind, rather than prepare the students only for placements.
College Events
Various debates and cultural programs were held annually. Also literary competitions and management festivals were held on a huge scale with a very good participation. It was considered a big privilege to take part in the competitions because of the exposure they provided and also because of the tough competition.Participants confidence levels rose because of the healthy and stress free competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure was nominal and mostly cash payments were accepted. No additional fee was charged for any course and there was complete transparency in the fee breakdown. In the first year sone additional fee could have been charged for admission and for library and extra curricular activities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college did offer scholarship opportunities for students who did exceptionally well in academics and extra curricular and other activities. They would just have had to fill up a form and submit proof or certificates of their achievements to avail of the opportunity. It was provided for a sum.of rs 10000/- if I remember correctly.
Campus Life
Campus life was extremely good and friendly without ragging.Since it was a girl's college, there were no problems regarding gender. Also, every religion, race were equally respected and students were well behaved and economic status wasn't given much importance. In other words all were treated equally.
Hostel Facilities
I had some friends who had opted for hostel and they had felt quite comfortable sharing the room with another person. The rooms were well furnished with attached washrooms and were maintained well with proper ventilation.Onthe whole I always got a satisfactory response with regard to hostel from my friends. .
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors were friendly and helpful, no incidents of ragging were reported. It was totally a tension free atmosphere in the college.
Admission
It was my dream to do post graduation in English literature in Koti Women's College, considered to be one of the best institutions in Hyderabad, affiliated to Osmania University. It was on the basis of marks I had secured in graduation that I had got admission in this college.
Faculty
The faculty was excellent, were in the age group of 30's to 50's and almost all of them were well qualified and have proved their expertise in the subject in more ways than one. Most of them held certifications but it is difficult to comment on their industry experience.
