First class college for media studies in Chennai

My life just changed for good only because of MOP Vaishnav. All thanks to the almighty, my faculties and the ecosystem. I have only good things to talk about this college, though they are quite strict. Its been over 8 years i am in the communication indus

After my 12th standard in Anna Adarsh I was very keen to take-up Journalism in under graduation.

The course curriculum is elaborate. It ranges from English literature, Business Communication, Radiography, Audiography, alternate elective in terms of Banking, Computing, computer coding, graphic designing, PR, Corporate Communication etc.

Internships are an integral part of the course. Appended is the list of internships i had taken. a) Deccan Chronicle b) Mambalam Times c) Doordarshan d) Good Relations India e) Translated several journals for a freelance firm f) PR Hub etc.

As mentioned earlier, placements are a key factor apart from the faculty while deciding on a college. MOP Vaishnav understands this thoroughly and they line up campus interview during the beginning of last semester. Companies such as Google, TCS, PR firms such as Good Relations, ICPAR, Advertising firms such as BBDO etc were present.The salary offer is anywhere between 15K-40K per month for an under graduate.

Inorder to ensure that the student explores one-self thoroughly prior to venturing into the real corporate world, various events, programs organised helps to explore within you. Some of the key ones that i remember as of now :a) College Fest b) Intercollege fest c) Clubs - Reading, Cooking, Oratorical etc d) Fitness programs such as Yoga, Meditation etc e) Guest Lectures, Guest visit, Guest workshops etc.

Fee structure was very feasible for me. It was around 8000 per semester. However, there was a minimum deposit amount that we had to pay. However, there were several endowments for the deserving candidates which were offered by the Vaishnav community. However, for courses such as Visual Communication & Electronic Communication, The fee structure is different and is believed to be expensive. The most important part of the campus is the peer group and the kind of co-learning they bring about to the whole process of learning.

There are several endowments program available for bright students. Also, you can avail waiver in sports quota etc. Ofcourse, the bank loans are also available.

The campus life is fun though the size of the campus itself is small. However, with the limited space available, They have tried doing justice. In case of sports practice, we were sent to centres such as SAI, Madras University ground which gives us the right infrastructure and required support. Its a girls college, though the faculties are a mix of men and women. Interms of culture, the faculties ensure there is no prejudice based on economies, performance etcThe consoles, cameras, labs are in par with the real editing studios.

Not too sure as I was a day scholar. However, the canteen food is sumptuous, especially the manchurian rice Slurp is Yummy.

Most of the senior students are either celebrities or leaders in the corporate world. You must be lucky to get a offer from this college. If you get so, do not bat an eye lid, just take it up.

Exams were fun in a way and was evaluating us at regular intervals. Exams are never always the 2-3 hour written sessions, its projects, VIVA, documentary etc
