Things about SRM

SRM is one of the good reputed institutions in India. They offer a wide range of courses from engineering to PhD and much more. There are so many labs that students can make use of. College also encourages students in research side and fund some of the research papers. Speaking about bad remarks, college can take steps to avoid the problems between different language students and the faculty that are not upto the mark.

Exam structure is good here. They've clearly planned and organized subjects in each semester which requires knowledge from before semester. Considering core subjects, they cover all the major concepts and put them in different semesters as to not feel the pressure by students. This is helpful as we can go back and study any concept that are not clear and have time to clear the present paper also. This makes us a better professional.

More than 70 companies come for placements every year. Mostly TCS, VERIZON, ZOHO, ABB, L&T come every year. If you have more than 8 cgpa and no standing arrears you can go for placements. SRM provides students an extra care for placements as they've set up a career development centre which provides students the pre requisite knowledge about placements and train them in a such a way that they're ready for the placements.

There are so many events that'll happen in SRM. Aaruush is the inter-college technical event in which students from different countries come and participate. It gives students the platform to showcase their talent in technical events like Robowars etc. Second is MILAN. It is an inter-college cultural event which has 150+ events happening every year and tops the list in one of the best cultural events in India.

My program fee is 2.5L per annum. I think it's bit high compared to other colleges but keeping in mind the number of labs and freedom to do research, money is not a big thing. They accept only Demand Draft. No additional charges are required to secure admission but need to pay the entrance exam fee and registration fee alone. No, the college does not provide transparency in fee breakdown.

You can apply for scholarship if you have good JEE MAIN or SAT percentile. If you scored 90 - 95.99% in JEE or 1400 - 1499 in SAT, college will provide 50% of the tuition fee. If you scored 85- 89.99 in JEE or 1300 - 1399 in SAT college will provide 25% of tuition fee. And at last if you scored 75 - 84.99 in JEE or 1200 - 1299 in SAT college will provide 10% of tuition fee. You can apply scholarship thorough online and need to show the proof on the day of admission.

Campus life in SRM is extremely delightful. There various clubs which includes dance, music, theatre, etc which students can join. There are also research teams where students can join and learn the technical side which letures won't teach you. This is the main advantage of SRM as most of the college won't fund these type of things. Like every other college male ratio is high compared to female. In SRM you can see a lot of diversity as students from different states and countries study here. North Indians and Telugu students are the dominating one. For every ethinic day of the students an event will be organized. There is no politics or sexual orientation here. But sometimes there will be problems between different language students.

College seniors are the one who helps us to understand the college system better. They tell us how we should be in the college and how to face a problem. Sometimes students who graduated from the institution and who are in high positions now come give lectures about different topics. Seniors help with concepts and how to clear the paper. Seniors and alumni play an important role in college life.

I choose mechatronics as it is going to be the booming industry in next 10 years. So searching for colleges there was only few colleges which has mechatronics department. In that SRM was the finest as they have all the facility and labs for providing students the better knowledge to understand. Admission process was so simple. First you need to submit an online application through their website. Then they'll announce a date for entrance exam. If you clear the exam and come under their percentage limit you can attend the counseling and get the seat.

There are 35 faculties in my department. Most of them are well qualified and have a PhD degree but some are just post graduates who come from other department. Most of the lecturers are above 35. Faculties have prior experience in teaching to mechatronics students. So they'll teach in a way that students can understand the concept in much better way than they thought the students before a year.
