Remarks

I don't find any negativity as such about our college. It is well connected with the railway station at ballygaunge as well as metro station at Jatin Das Park. It is also connected to Howrah station by private mini bus.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is very constructive & student friendly.The 5 years course is divided into 10 semester.Each semester has an internal exam carrying 20 marks and followed by an external exam carrying 80 marks.There are 5 papers in a semester up to 5th semester and after that 4 papers for pass students & 6 papers for honours students. It is the course curriculum & exam structure of our college.

Placement Experience

Yes,there are opportunities of placement and internship. Every year a good number of law firm came to our college for campusing and selects a good number of student as there employee. There salary ranges from 15K to 20K. In case of internship the stipend is about two thousand rupees.

College Events

Our college organizes a number of events like fresher's and farewell of students of 1st and 5th year. Then Moot Court Competition, Debate Competition, Quiz Competition etc. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Debate Competition is the most prestigious event of our college that held every year .

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't availed any scholarship or loan from our college. As it is a Govt. College there is no need for loan. But there are scope for scholarship from the University for the students. It is given from the interest of the funds donated by some kind hearted man.

Campus Life

Yes, there are facility of extra curricular activities and sports. We have a common room for students which consists of carrom, table tennis and badminton like indoor game. Apart from this,we also have a gymnasium and football ground in the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes,we have a alumni association and they are very helpful towards the newcomers. Senior students also cooperate with their Juniors & guide them in their course. There is a friendly environment in the college.

Admission

At first,I have applied through online for the entrance exam conducted by University of Calcutta for the B.A.L.L.B. course in 12 affiliated colleges under it.I ranked 82 in the entrance exam & got the opportunity to be a part of the legacy tracing back in British era. It is one of the oldest law college in India with distinguished alumni.So the admission process is online application--entrance exam of objective MCQ in pen paper mode --publication of merit list-- admission in accordance with candidate's rank & preference of colleges.If seats remain vacant it organize another counseling.That's the admission process in a nutshell.

Faculty

Our college has a distinguished faculty.Apart from permanent professors, practicing lawyers, retired judges also taught us as guest lecturer. All the faculty members are very coardial and always take care of every student.

My Review of Sarsuna Law College

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculam, as fixed by the University, is pretty comprehensive. It includes all the relevant and important subjects, divided into 6 semesters, with necessary weightage given to practials/projects whenever required. Since LL.B is a vast course, the subjects are diverse and are well spread to cover all the important legal fields, from property laws, company laws, torts, to criminal law and human rights. The teaching methods adopted are mostly classroom based and theoritical, although there are court visits organised from time to time. However, the practial exposure, particularly with respect to tasks like drafting, is still lacking. Exams are held at the end of each semester, with approximately 5/6 months gap (Normally, in August and in January/February). The internal for that semester is conducted in one sitting almost a month before the Semester exams.

Placements are given. But not what students dreamed of. Everyone gets opportunity to sit on interview and get placed. To perform good in interview our university has included boot camps in our routine which helps in improving our interview skills. Department of Law - The Best Law College In West Bengal

Application is done completely online. Students who are interested in pursuing this course has to sit for an Entrance Exam(Calcutta University Law Entrance Test). Approximately 10,000 students sit for this exam every year. One's rank has to be above 120 to get into this college. Total no of seats in this college is 120 out of which 60 are reserved for categories other than General. The application fee for General is 500 and 250 or less for reserved category candidates. The college is amazing and it is a government college so no extra fees is taken. The maximum course fee is taken from the students and it is under the University of Calcutta so if living in Calcutta you get wide aspects for your better future. Excellent experience.A lot to learn
