Remarks
Overall a good time to give to your graduation. But only graduation.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is not so great because for the 7 semesters out of 8 the student is regularly going through some or the other exams which he has to do well also if he wants to score good. And as he is studying with constant pressure he isn't learning much or being more productive towards other things. But it also helps you to learn how to handle pressure and act while in pressure.
Placement Experience
HUL, Schneider electric, Byjus, ABB, Hyundai motors, ZS Associates, TATA motors, IFB, Ducere Technologies, Infosys, TCS, Capgemini. Recruitment were different for different companies. But talking in general there were 4 rounds on an average. 1st round being Aptitude test which included Quant and some time verbal. 2nd round being GD, 3rd PI, 4th HR interview. Tentative% of placed students were around 60%. And our department did organize all the necessary classes which would help students to excel placements.
College Events
The most popular are 2 events. One is Aaruush the national level techno management fest which is the most happening fest in our college, participants all over Tamil Nadu comes to participate. Second is Milan, Our Cultural Fest which also has a hugh fan following amongst all our different campus locations.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Expensive. The tuition fees was very high 2.15 lakhs and after that the mess + hostel fees (Non-AC) was around 1 lakhs plus many others fees was taken like book fees around 20000. Every semester had exam fees 3500/-. Yes there was transparency in fee breakdown but it was expensive. Hostel and tuition fees mentioned was per year
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes college did provide it. But there were very few some of which I know are If you are a good rank holder in JEE Mains or Advance, or if you have a good rank in State board, or among the top percentage in CBSE board. The top ranker in every branch also gets some amount of cash refunded to their parents account. To avail the scholarships you have to fill a form and it will be reviewed and processed.
Campus Life
Gender ratio was absolutely good almost equal ratio. Majority of which are party animals. Many many workshops were organised very frequently. Many societies. Student diversity was very nice. Some very few south indian student don't like north indians but that doesn't really matter or you won't face any serious issue. I am an OBC and no one in my college ever asked me about it jo one know about it and no one cares about it. Politics happens in some or the other group but people handles it (who wants to) economic status won't effect anyone else but only yourself.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. Hostels are different for 1st years to minimize ragging (Negligible). Rooms are 3 or 4 sharing which isn't a choice as you may get 3 sharing or a four sharing. They are average spaced. But the cleaning happens everyday. There are PGs air flats around the college. PGs - 5000 independent room. 2bhk flat - 25000, 3BHK - 30000.
Alumni/Alumna
It is the worst. When I came to know about something like alumni network I wondered It's the worst for our college or may be I did not put the efforts. But still it is very bad when compared to what I have heard for IITs or IIMs.
Admission
I didn't had many options when it came to some decent Engineering college that is the reason I choose SRM but lucikly I got the Main campus. It was amongst the good ones where I was eligible. To get admission you have to write an entrance exam which is conducted by the college itself (SRMJEE) through which a rank is generated and according to the ranks you get admission in the corresponding Campus and Branch
Faculty
Yes some teachers were really good and well deserved but some were not. (As it is common in any private college). Talking about average age it would be around 38. The courses were very relevant in terms of our core industry experience. Tentative numbers of lecture were about 30-40 per course. And qualification for most of the faculty in our EEE branch was that most of them were ongoing PhD
