Remarks
I would say Each department is at it's best. And our placement department is thriving with success. Management is great and they take decesions together. They always keep on focusing development of the infrastructure in the campus. There is strong college rules and regulations to be followed by the students in order to avoid any misbehaving by any individual. Overall management is doing it's function as expected. Now for the cons, Firstly I would like to say the co-ordination between each department is less and not as expected. Sometimes management makes discrimination against certain department's as what should they need and what they don't need and which department get's fund's and which not. Lastly for certain issues which are raised by student isn't getting noticed in the top level administration and the management isn't working hard to resolve those issues. Let's say like Mark's Card, Transfer Letter etcetera.
Course Curriculum Overview
Firstly for my course we have options to choose between 2 Universities and I choose Bangalore University. Course Curriculum is pretty much obsolete to be honest. But you can't blame them for those. They can get you excellent knowledge but they don't match current standards of today's industry. You've to acquire knowledge from other sources too. College will guide you in placements they make sure you are upto date with what currently is happening. Lot's of workshops are conducted as per curriculum and Yes even there are industrial visit for the students to top industry in the nearby localities. Overall I would like to say Yes the college, my department and my friends together made me a better professional in today's world.
Placement Experience
For the list of companies, I would like to mention top tier companies like Cerner Corp. Accenture Cognizant Amazon Infosys Wipro Tech Mahindra Mphasis Adobe Mindtree IBM Dell HP Nokia Deloitte HCL and more followed by many start-ups. Please do note that these are very few I've mentioned for my Course MCA. There are different engineering courses and they have more companies too. For the tentative percentage of students getting placed it solely depends on the candidates abilities to clear the assessment test and interview procedure of the companies. Overall I would like to say around 70-80% students will be placed annually. And yes college has CIL which has Center for Innovation and Leadership which is a semester program for the students to boost up their ability in the field like Aptitude, Leadership, Time Management, Communication etc. I would like to say placement in the college is above par with the best college in the state and internship are also available to the students.
College Events
For cultural and management festivals we have Furore on Even semester which is inter College fest and Vibrations which is intra-department fest within the college. Both are very popular in the college and has very huge amount of fan's and audience from within college and from other colleges as well. There is also a tedX event in the college and most respected guests will be a guest of honour in the college to speak about the events that really matters in the society. Various national level seminars are conducted throughout the year. There is also a DJ night which is pretty much lit. Even Kannada Rajyotsava, Independence Day, Republic Day, AIDS awareness, Blood Donation Programs are being conducted with lot's of interests. There was also an Food Exhibition, International Football game of students, Flash Mob and much more to add to it's Crown of this College. To manage all these we have Cultural Team Department which overlooks everything relating to cultural and management fest that happens in the College. For technical fest various departments conduct it's own fest for the students to actively engage in it. Overall the experience is Amazing regarding these.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For fee structure, the professional course is pretty expensive but since we can get seats through competitive exams like PGCET, under government quota one can have reduction in fee. For MCA program approximate fee is 300000? for Government Quota And around 500000? for Management Quota. Note that these include Tution, Course and Exams fee. For hostel it's extra. And for mode of payment it's either DD or Debit cards and No Cash. The College has trust called MGVP Trust where you've to pay all the fee under it. There is no additional money for the course or to secure the seat. They will give you a fee structure if you want to know for what you've been paying such huge amount and according to me I would say there is transparency in most cases. There is also reward based learning and also students can avail a scholarship from the government.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes I've opted for scholarship. The College has Post Metric Scholarship, Food and Accommodation and Fee Concession scheme backed by Government. The eligibility criteria is pretty simple, you should be eligible candidate in the college with min marks, attendance and have cleared each semester.
Campus Life
Well what can I say, I love campus of the Dayananda Sagar College. It's awesome to be exact express my feelings. I've made Thousands of memories in this together with my friend's. One if the best campus life to those who wonder how it is in DSI. Gender ratio i don't know about numbers but Yes there are Many Male and Female students in the college and both have equal opportunities in every aspect of College. And about diversity, oh we have people's from Africa, Japan, China, Nepal, North Indians, East Indian's and so on, we are together a family in DSI. Labs yes the Computer Lab are well equipped with latest iteration of systems and internet connectivity. There are top notch lab's for chemical, biotech, dental, life sciences and aeronautical engineering students. Sports activities like every other colleges and here is no different. Debate's I've no Idea but it's known that they happen in every departments. Overall on the scale of 10 I would rate 8.
Hostel Facilities
No i haven't opted for hostel as it seems little bit expensive. But the college has 2 hostels. One for NRIs and one For Indian's. There are also different girl's hostel within the campus. There is also options for single bed and sharing.
Alumni/Alumna
We had best seniors and they are placed and are living great life and adding a value to the society they live in. We had one guy who was alumni for our course who now has his own startups and he took a seminar and hired some of us as interns for his company.
Admission
In my undergraduate program I've completed BCA and opted to pursue MCA. The Dayananda Sagar College of Arts Science and Commerce is part of Dayananda Sagar Institutions in the main branch of College. Admission process is pretty simple for professional courses. A PGCET exam is held every year, which is nothing but Post Graduate Common Entrance Test. You've to Clear Exam with certain ranks to secure a seat in a College. Various colleges have different cutoff ranks. I choose DSI because it has good infrastructure, various courses to choose, excellent placements, they also have large sucessful alumi, different cultures, moreover brand matters most. Trust me once you've completed the Course you can proudly say you're product of DSI. Steps- Once you've secured a rank then you can go to college with all necessary documents like Mark's Card, PGCET rank list, Govt. ID proofs. Later people's in admission block will guide you through overall admission process.
Faculty
Well for MCA Course we have 4-5 Full time lecturers and around 4 Additional lecturers from BCA department to help MCA student's. Most of the MCA lecturer are of age 30-50 and have rich experience of teaching of minimum 7+ year's and some for 20+ year's. Most of the lecturers have done PhD in various disciplines and some are M.Tech holders from respectful Universities. Well for providing clarity to the students regarding academic they do some research before teaching to us. They have wide array of Knowledge in various domains. Yes most of the lecturers has done certification courses and also they have conducted national seminars, guest teaching to other colleges, guiding various students to pursue something else other than mentioned curriculum.
