Remarks
Overall IHM Aurangabad is a great college to study in. The only drawback now is that the fees have become extremely high and the packages still continue to be meagre. The course is now 4 years and i personally feel its not needed for it to be so long
Entrance Preview
This college is one of the best in the country for Hotel Management. They had their own personal Entrance examination. There were three rounds of selection1. Common Entrance Test 2. Group Discussion3. Personal Interview
Internships Opportunities
The stipend offered varied from Rs 500-1000 per month. Being a Taj run college we got internships in various Taj hotels across India. We also got a choice to select which city we would want to do our internship and our training would be arranged there.
Placement Experience
The placement was almost 100%. We had many categories of placements. Different hotel and hospitality chains would come for campus placements. They would mostly hire for management traning programs. Some companies were chains like Oberoi, Taj, Leela, Marriot, Park etc. The packages started at Rs 7000 per month
College Events
We had events like Freshers Party and celebrated festivals like Christmas, Sankranti, Lodhi, Ganesh Chaturti, Holi etc. We also organized many events and fests which were also a part of our curriculum
Fee Structure And Facilities
The Fees were pretty expensive. During 2003-2006 batch the course charges were approx 6-7 lakhs for the Culinary Arts program. It was about 7-8 lakhs for the Management program also because theirs was a BA Honours Program
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of any such facility. Being an expensive college most students came from affluent families hence they could afford the fees
Campus Life
Campus life was alot of fun. There was alot of hard work as well and immense learning. The entire experience had a tremendous influence on shaping our lives and personalities. There were many hostel parties and fun events which made it even more memorable.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities were very comfortable though not 5 star. The rooms were triple sharing and there were common bathrooms and toilets. The hostel had a garden and provision for small games. It supposedly had a gym but it was never functional. The mess food was good and provided non veg food 2-3 times a week
Alumni/Alumna
I havent had much interaction with my seniors or the alumni but yes, the alumni of IHM Aurangabad are now in top leadership positions in the best hotels and hospitality companies globally.
Exam Structure
Life in IHM was pretty hectic. There were alot if practical assesments and many assignments. There were many group and individual projects in almost every subjected which hardly left any time to 'chill out' as such
Faculty
The standards of the faculty was very high. They were professionals who have had many years of experience in the industry in various fields. It was also a good blend of young and senior professors who could help us understand the different perspectives working styles across the country
