Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum of the course is very well defined and is structured keeping in mind the AICTE approved guidelines. Examinations are held in a semester-wise pattern and the semester exams are held twice in a year namely the odd semester examination and the even semester examination. Along with theoretical examination the practical examination is also conducted as a part of the end semester examination. Mid-term evaluation is done in face of assignments and tests.

Placement Experience

2

In terms of placement the University of Burdwan provide support in face of job fairs. However one will not be able to get a good placement in the fair as this fare are mostly of general domain and not specific to your course. Thus, one has to manage placement on his own and many of our seniors have got good placements on their own effort. The same goes true for internship and one has to manage internship on his own.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In terms of the University has made sure that it remains feasible for most of the students. The cost for two year program is around Rs 24, 000. During the time of admission one has to submit around Rs 12, 000 including the first year fee and the other charges.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

West Bengal State Government extends scholarship to students from the economically weaker section of the society and to the reserved category students provided that they are the domicile of the state. The university also offers scholarship to the meritorious students. Apart from that one can avail education loan facility from any private or public sector bank.

Campus Life

3.5

There is nothing much for distance learning student in terms of extra curricular activities. This is more of a stuff for the regular student. In terms of infrastructure I can say that in our regional centre the infrastructure is good and it is apt for making learning easy for the students.

Admission

I applied for the admission by filling the online application form and submitting it along with all the relevant documents. After verification and acceptance of my application I was granted the admission in the the M.Sc program. I opted for M.Sc in Computer Science because I have a UG degree in the domain and wanted to pursue higher education.

Faculty

3.5

There is not much of an interaction with the faculty like the regular students as we are studying in the distance learning program so we connect with the teachers at the regional centre. At my regional centre the teachers are experienced and they have a good knowledge of their subject. They help us in understanding the core principles and concepts of the subject and promote learning by doing rather than rote learning methodology.

Reviewed on Jan 3, 2022(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I have got good marks in my graduation and wanted to pursue higher study I have chosen this course. We have around 50 students in our geography pg department. And we have 5 professors and some guest lecturers. Our student-faculty ratio was decent. It's almost 9 students per one faculty. All of our professors are highly qualified. All of them have done PhD and they are very interactive even in online classes. Due to covid practical classes were not possible as college was closed. We have a total of 4 semesters, practical exams & internal assessment tests. Exams are moderate to pass

Course Curriculum Overview:

After completing and getting good marks in graduation my next step is to pass MSc with first-class and prepare myself for the NET SET exam so that I can either do a Ph.D. or become a lecturer. We had 4 faculty and almost 42 students in our department. So the student-faculty ratio is 10 students per one professor. But our professors are very good and understanding. They are very interactive in online/offline classes. They have empathy and patience to understand our topic very deeply. They also do regular practical classes. Our professors have done Ph.D. in their field. We had 4 semesters. Every semester we had 5-6 papers and practical exams and internal assessment tests and assignments. Anyone who studies regularly can pass these exams.

Placement Experience:

They can enroll in the placement cell which helps with placements, Some departments get quite good placements from reputed companies. After getting the degree, I plan on sitting for the JAM MSc entrance exams. Also Really good for other departments like BCom and economics but you usually don't look for placement after graduation in the arts stream. You have to go for masters. So if you're a commerce or a science student and you're looking for a college with good placement after graduation, St Xavier's College is one of the best colleges in the country and in Kolkata the best.
