Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very well defined and structured as per the guidelines of the UGC. Semester- wise system of examination is adopted. As per the system exams are held twice in a year and they are called as the odd semester examination and the even semester examination. The examinations that is the end semester examinations are held at the regional centres of the university.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are seldom as distance learning students have to maintain and managed placements and internship on their own. I myself applied for many companies and on my own effort I got placement in a good firm. In terms of internship as well I put my own effort to get internship opportunity in NTPC.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees of the University is a bit higher as compared to other distance learning universities. For the three year program cost around Rs 1 lakh. At the time of admission you would be required to submit around Rs 33, 000 which includes the fee and other charges. Examination charges are to be paid separately at the start of each semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The state government of Punjab offer scholarship to the student who are domicile of the state and are from the categories such as the economically weaker section or the reserved categories. however National scholarship is also available for student and I myself applied for the central government scholarship that is offered through the national scholarship portal. One can also avail the educational loan facility that is offered by various private and public sector bank.
Campus Life
Since I am a distance learning student I am not much aware about the extra curricular activities. All I know is that the extra-curricular activities and various clubs are there for students who are enrolled in the regular programs. Infrastructure wise I can say that the regional centre where I am studying is quite good.
Admission
I applied for the B.Com program in the distance learning centre of Punjab University by filling the application form and submitting all the required documents. after verification of my documents I was granted the admission in the program. I opted for the B.Com program in the university as I was looking to pursue Masters in the domain.
Faculty
Faculty of the regional centre where I study is very good. They are basically the teachers which are teaching the students of the full time regular program. They focus on imparting us the knowledge about the basic principles of accounting, taxation, auditing etc so that we get the core of things and should not go on for the rote memorization of the things.
