College Review

The college has an excellent environment and being a private college it has students from evry single state in India. The college management can improve as some of the major decisions are last moment and our semster timings are also a little odd becuse we start a month before the other colleges and even finish a month before. This affects us as once we go back home we are not able to meet our friends.

Though the first year is a bit too much for the students as it is a complete change of the scenery and also the fact that there are a lot of unwanted and unrelated topics that are tiaght but apart from that yes the courses offered are on point. The syllabus covered is exhaustive. It isnt research driven but emphasis is given on practical working and hands on experiences. There are endless workshops that are conducted thouroughout the year for qstudents of every domain. Industrial visits are plenty but start only in the third year. The exam pattern is not good, we have over 50 papers, assignments, exams, practicals, projects etc that have to be submitted every semester. This is taken care by 3 cycle tests and a final University examination.

We have a 99% placement rate at the campus because most of the students are from the computer science background. Internship fair is a biannual thing that happens before evrey semester ends. The students are either provided internships on the campus or near places they live.

Techinal - Aarush - 4 day fest Cultural - Milan - 4 day fest (India's largest) SRMMUN SRMIEC We have 8 racing teams that take part in competitions like Formula Bharat, Formula student etc. We have cars competing in the shelll marathon race. We have our annual SRMRUN. There are events that happen every day at the campus, the ones listed above are the most prominent and the largest ones.

250000 There was complete transparency and no additional charges were taken at the time of admission. The is one additional fee ever year and that is of the University examination. Which is 3500. A token amount of 10000 was taken at the time of seat booking which was non refundable.

Students are awarded scholarship on multiple grounds. For my second year I'll be applying for a scholarship that is given to the top 1% of evry course. Apart from this scholarships are awarded on the basis of JEE-Mains, board marks, family economic conditions, co curricular activities etc.

Campus Life is excellent apart from the fact that the hostel intime is too early. Specially for girls who have to be inside their respective hostels by 7:30. The campus is very vast and one has to do over there. We have 3 full sized ground for cricket football etc, apart from tha we have tennis courts, basketball courts, table tennis, and hundreds of other sports Being a college that has a majority of engineering students the girl to boy ratio would be around 1:4. We have 150 student bodies that organise different events every day in the campus, from RC racing to robotics, to drones, etc. Our SRMMUN is India's largest such competition with over a 1000 competing participants.

Yes, I have opted for an AC room with an attatched bathouroom, though overall the rooms are not less, there is a lack of AC rooms for both 1st and 2nd year students. If one has to live outside the campus there are a few housing societies that are nearby. Their price ranges from 1,20,000 - 1,80,000 all inclusive. The price is different because of certain differences like ACs, fridge, etc in a room.

We have a student body known as the DAA or the department of Alumni affairs and it conducts alumni meets almost evry month. With over 5k students graduating every year our college has more than enough alumni.

SRM University Kattankulathur is one of the best ranked private colleges in India, on top of this they have the best automobile engineering course after IIT Chennai. Their automobile course is one of the best because of: 1. Extensive labs 2. Practical oriented studies 3. Excellent faculty For Admissions: It was a common entrance exam that eveyone has to give and then according to the rank the students can opt their course. There is no interview or Group discussion, admission is purely on the basis of the SRMJEE.

There are people on both sides of the spectrum. There are people who are excellent while at the same time there are people who have terrible communication skills. The maths faculty in general is highly praised but the Chemistry faculty is not good baring a few exceptions.
